I think this band is starting to finally come back into their own. I (personally) heard a pretty sharp drop-off right after Andre left, but the last couple albums seem to be picking up momentum nicely again.

I think Shaman both lost and gained when Matos & crew left. The lineup is very talented, some really great musicians in it. Thiago Bianchi is a pretty damn good singer too. The new lineup wrote some of my favorite Shaman songs ever (even if they're more ballady than the actual faster/heavier songs):

Has anyone got their DVDs by the way? (Live in Europe with an Orchestra, headlining a festival with over 50,000 people in the audience, and Live in Brazil):

I just wish they would actually work with Sasha Paeth again and bring back the production of Ritual. That would certainly put them on the next level.

Yeah, I've got the DVD with the orchestra, and it's pretty good stuff.
My beef with the singer is that he tries to sing Andre's style, but he seems to have a few more holes in his upper range than Andre. Andre seems to incorporate those nicely into his melodies, whereas with Thiago it doesn't seem nearly as natural. That's where I think part of the progression is taking place: he is becoming more comfortable with his ranges.

I totally hear you on that. However, I don't even think it was so much Thiago trying to sing like Andre so much as they have a somewhat similar range. Have you checked Thiago's other band Karma?
He has definitely progressed in Shaman, as you said though. He's a hell of a songwriter too!

Feel free to tell the band that they are a bunch of liars then. There's no way they would ever headline a festival of that size in Europe. We're talking about a festival LARGER than Sweden Rock Festival and Wacken Festival ?!?!?!?! If Shaman were to play those festivals, they'd be put on one of the small stages in the middle of the day.

According to the schedule of Masters of Rock 2009, they were the "last" band of one of the nights... they actually played right after Nightwish. One could argue that the "last band of the night" is the "headliner".
Dude, I'm not that naive. I know they are a small band in Europe, and I KNOW THEY CAN NOT HEADLINE A FESTIVAL LIKE THAT ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD - NOT EVEN BRAZIL! - but it doesn't change the fact they recorded this DVD as the last band in one of the nights at the festival, in front of a LOT of people.I gotta call Bruce Dickinson this afternoon and tell him he's a liar too, afterall, Rock In Rio only had 150,000 people... NOT 250,000 as they advertised.

What they did was to CLOSE the festival one evening. They were granted 1 hours playing time at 1.00 to 2.00 in the middle of the night AFTER the headliner (Nightwish) had played.
There's a big big difference in "headlining" and "closing" an evening.
Oh, and the official count at Masters of Rock is 30.000 people

You do realize I have been agreeing with you in most of what you're saying, right? The bottom line is - it doesn't matter. They could say they were headlining Download, Sweden Rock, Wacken, Rock In Rio, fucking Live Aid for all I care - it would still not make them bigger.
The band could be bigger if they still had Andre singing for them. Ever since he left the band, they've been battling to leave obscurity. And they most likely will not go back to the Andre Matos-days sized Shaman. Ever. Again.
