Allright, so there's a (sort of) local band from Flint, MI called MILES BEYOND that has wholly grabbed my attention. These guys are straight up whailing virtuoso guitar fiends and are an excellent stage show. I saw them opening for Iced Earth and they had me sold after three seconds. Certainly a heavy dose of Maiden and Priest, very original songs and great musicianship. And yes, two of the guys will be coming to Prog Power this year! They asked me, "How are Edguy live?" I just chuckled with an evil smirk.
You can grab a few samples from their website, http://www.milesbeyond.net the sound quality of their demo disc doesn't do them justice. They're planning on remixing it to give it a fuller sound. But it's enough to tell they got what it takes.
