"It's shameful that Dickinson felt he had the right to air his issues publicy on stage every night as a way to boost his own ego."
Sharon Osbourne
"Freedom of speech is a bourgeois prejudice."
Vladimir Lenin
The situation we are dealing with here is that The Ozzfest has tragicly highjacked heavy metal and transformed it in to yet another totalitarian regime. For her to state that Bruce was outside of his rights as a rock 'n' roll pontiff is antithetical to everything which freedom of speech is. While Eddie Van Halen castrated rock's power of pontiffication by firing David Lee Roth, the throne has had no king since Roth's banishment.
Bruce did not have to rejoin Maiden. He is the type of personality that is so individualistic that he doesen't need the magnitude of a power rock band to bolster him up. Bruce's rejoining has been the most balls out of all the rock "reunions" and has made a mockery of the concept of the reunion because it has proved the most viable of all rock marriages.
Bruce is the last Mohican and the last freedom warrior. Bruce's return was an entirely selfless decision on the part of the salvation of rock.
The strange thing is that had she not attacked them, his raps would have been all but forgotten, yet she made it front page news.
As my brother has so eloquently stated "You just look at the average concert goer and he's just a fuckin' idiot." Within this situation All I can remember of the Gimme 'Ed speech is he said that Verizon Wireless was a stupid name for an arena, he liked Long Beach Sports Arena better, it still had frosting on the roof from a rigged 1984 cake and that The Clansman was a song about real freedom. All I can remember from Dance Of Death is he was going after the guy who threw watter and he threatened to go back to England. I love Bruce's raps more than anybody and this is all I can remember.
While she has touted Ozzfest as a humanist commune, inorder for Black Sabbath to preform with Ozzy Tony was forced to relinquish the rights to Black Sabbath unless Ozzy were involved, yet Bill nearly did not do the last one because his initial offer by Sharon was a fleece. He only was there because he protested to Ozzy.
There is no evidence that Bruce's raps are to bolster his ego. The rock rap is an institution which he is selflessly mothering.
