Sorry for making a thread, but I couldn't think of anywhere appropriate.

Will the shirts this year feature the preparty bands at the bottom or something? All 4 bands are main-roster worthy (and half have been there), and it would add an extra oomph for the times when someone sees my shirt and says "oh man, you saw all those bands?"

Do we smell a pre-party t-shirt?

Took the suggestion right out of my mouth.... It'd be nice. This year's show is too big for a single shirt.

However, bringing myself back to Earth, I don't see it happening because of the added cost (and risk) of printing another shirt.

Considering that it is another risk and a headache that Glenn doesn't need right now, how about Megawozniak (since you came up with the idea) printing up 500 or so PPVII Pre-Party shirts (with Glenn's approval of course)? I'm sure that most of the people going would get one, provided that you have enough of each size! I'd get one!

I would buy 3 or 4, just as I do with the main PP shirt each year...

The Pre-Party bands will not be on the main shirt. Two of the four bands have already had their name on the shirt.

Shane is welcome to do shirts as he sees fit. However, keep in mind that this is an added up front cost with a back-end gamble. It's not as easy as people think. In terms of sales, you are lucky to get 50% of overall audience capacity to buy a shirt. I may sell-out of shirts now, but that is because I keep my total production numbers down. I learned the hardway during IV & V that this forum can be deceiving in its enthusiasm for product. I was stuck with over 100 shirts and barely broke even on them. John Dough doesn't think like you do. That means that Shane would be doing well to sell 300 shirts. Those 300 shirts would actually cost him more to print than mine do because of the way most shirt companies work in cost per piece per production. He could get them cheaper, but then it becomes the question of quality & how much work he wants to put into it for something with minimal profitablity in the first place.

So Glenn, am i correct in that we will be able to order the regular PP shirts ahead of time this year like 2 years ago??? Just asking because we walked in the door last year and went directly to the t-shirt table but you were sold out of small and Med shirts already so my wife and daughters were not able to get their 3.

Venom,

I'm not sure at this time. It's a HUGE pain in the ass for me with no benefit to be honest. It was originally done because I couldn't afford to put the cash up for the shirts otherwise.

Perhaps, I will look at a pre-order & pick up at the show thing.

I would appreciate if you could do the pre-purchase thing. @ eyars ago you ran out of "fat boy" sizes and luckily for me you made some more afterwards so I was able to get one, but they were all 3 sad last year not to be able to get a PP shirt. Hopefully all 4 of us will be lucky this year. I appreciate all that you do GLenn

It would be cool if there were girlies? has there been in the past? if not is it possible
I've been begging for them for the past three years, but I believe Glenn said the graphic is too large and he's have to do a separate one for girlies. I really wish there was some way to pull it off.

Wow... interesting... I always thought concert shirts were one of the most profitable revenue streams for bands, or in this case for a festival, given the large price difference between a blank shirt and a shirt with graphics on it...

It is a very situational thing. Bands print up large numbers of shirts for tours and thus get a very low production cost. There is a huge difference in the cost per shirt when you order 5,000 shirts vs. 500 shirts. You could see as much as a 50-75% increase on your profits based on that alone. Plus, normal shirts are $25-35 dollars now. That's more profit.

I take a lot of pride in my shirts and insist on high quality in terms of material, graphics, and number of colors used. My cost per shirt is probably higher than any festival (and most touring bands of our size) in the States. Do I make a profit on them. Absolutely, but not that much because I keep the price low on purpose. I had to increase it by $2 last year to cover the increased production cost. I kept the same margin of profit on them as I have had for the previous two years.

If it were up to me, I probably would not even bother with them. They are a big pain in my ass and cost me more money up front. The back end is nice, but I wouldn't miss it.

The shirts are more for you guys than me. I do, however, take pride in hearing the stories about people seeing the shirts out all over the country at various shows. You can't buy that kind of advertising.

Dude I buy TWO every year - I love 'em so much I always wanna have a backup for when I eventually wear out the first one... :headbang:

(my only regret is that I never thought about that back at PP2 and only have my single shirt from that show.... not as colorful as the later ones but still a treasured fav in my collection. :Spin: )

I wonder if CafePress might be an option for Shane? Little or no upfront cost if you bring your own artwork, and I hear they're now doing black t-shirts...which was always the stumbling block before. :)

Has their quality gotten any better? I've ordered from them in the past (granted, it's been a few years now), and the graphics tended to fade fairly quickly over the first few washes.

We really appreciate that Glenn! I wear mine anywhere (concerts, wherever in public, even at work). Heck they're even good ice breakers with chicks who love metal! Thanks Glenn!
