It's just that the one I have is almost 6 years old and I don't know if it has lost it's quality after all these years. It still sounds very good and the noise is low unless I go crazy on the distortion; so I'm just wondering if getting a newer cable is most likely to improve maybe the tone and reduce the noise a bit.

It's one of those planet waves gold plated and I would be getting a newer one.

Thoughts?

it's not a sandwich, it's fine if it transmits signal with no static or dropouts. that being said...at this point in my life I like to make my own which usually consists of mogami cable with switchcraft connectors.

If you knew anything about audiofoolia you'd know that the cable is probably only now burned in properly, like a fine wine it has improved with age so it's probably sounding better than it ever has, that's IF you plug it in the same way every time so as not to disrupt the electron flow or "skin effect".
