Hell, I've lived half a year now in China.
And even more on topic, I've lived half a year in Russia too.

I just have a pretty crazy impression of Russia. This thread was to see what people actually thought of it.

And yes, Northern Europe is also a supreme goal destination this year.

Well, since the fall of the old Soviet Union, Russia has been a strange place. Furthermore, Russia is so expansive it is almost impossible to speak of all the various Russia(s) at the same time. Visiting the great cities, for example Moscow or St Petes, is nothing short of exciting and uniquely interesting. I'd avoid country travel though, I was part of a convoy where the tail end was blocked off and then raided for belongings, perhaps by the mafia or some impoverished peoples.

My family on my mothers side came from Russia in the 1910s, I often wonder if I have relatives there. So yes I would like to go some day.
