i think there is a lot of good bands still releasing good albums.
Daylight Dies, Swallow the sun, Opeth, Katatonia, Keep of kalessin, Amon Amarth, Mar de grises, nevermore... I think these bands are pretty original and keep releasing great albums.

IMO newer bands (blablabla-core) are constantly competing who's gonna look more like Eminem and scream-growl(not even) at the same time.
So that they both have the hip-hop coolness and the heavy metal ballzzzzz,yeah mofo im a bad ass kinda thing.
Not to mention crab-core!!!!

it is like this in any scene though. You're always going to have a bunch of unoriginal imitators at the bottom, and then a select few at the top who are fantastic.
I personally think a lot of the newer metal out these days is fucking INCREDIBLE.
The newer stuff being released by Bloodbath, Decapitated, Behemoth, Nevermore, The Faceless, etc, is awesome in my opinion. I find I listen to it a lot more than heaps of the 'older' stuff.

There was a thread on this like a few days. Or practically the same thing as this.. JBroll basically summed it up.. there are just as many shitty bands now as before, its just that now people can record themselves easily, so instead of just being in their basement its on the net. Doesn't mean you have to listen to it.

Regurgitated, tired old garbage thread time again?
When did you forget that 99% of everything is worthless, irredeemable garbage and that expecting anything else is a total waste of time and energy? Why is it surprising that some people will take the easy way out and redo the same flavor of the week instead of taking the massive amount of time and energy necessary to create something truly new and amazing? Does it not bother you that you, while complaining about 'lack of originality', are currently being about as original and innovative as the average box of corn flakes? Can we, as a species, just learn to move the fuck on instead of complaining when everything isn't perfect and instead take the time we would spend bitching about other people's lack of creativity on something productive?
(Full disclosure: no, this post is itself *not* original - I've posted it, or something very similar, several fucking times in stupid threads like this because I'm sick of seeing them, and if you're so hell-bent on originality and quality then it's time to do something less unoriginal and idiotic than start another bullshit thread bitching about music you don't like. Grow the fuck up and solve the problem yourself, goddamnit - if there was *one* original thinker for every hundred wankers who thought that the world needed more bitching about *everyone else's* lack of ability, we'd be out of the fucking solar system by now.)
