Lexicon on vox and Bricasti wooden room for OH's... snare verb is a mix of a TC M300 impulse and one from an SPX90 (which I've never used before, but it sounds soooo dirty and blends awesomely, definitely going to start using it more...) there's also some Z4 in there as well....
Kick was like 6 different samples layered, snare was slate and... some stuff from a D4 and some other random shit....
As far as boosts, my two absolute FAVORITES are the OD820 and the Ibby TS808. I don't like the Maxon808 too much or the TS-9 (yes, we own all these different boosts). Those two always seem WAY to subtle... but I have used them in the past... like I said, it's all down to the players fingers....
It's actually amazing how different they can sound w/the same player, amp, cab, mic, etc. I usually dial in my tone and mic position(s) then start swapping the boosts until I find something that sounds cool to me. Most of the time it's either the 820 or the TS808.
The 820 smooths out the sound and makes it gel really well with the rest of the mix. I tried the TS808 and it made the GTR sound just a little too clean and clear.... the 820 was like insta-glue.
Thanks dudes!
Vox compression was 160a on the way in and the rest was ITB... also, I always, always EQ the vocal with a 7602 before hitting the tape (and the 160a) to take care of any weird resonances and whatnot...
Don't think I used the 480L at ALL on this! =D It's all over the new King Conquer record that's dropping soon, though.
and in closing, the 57+421 combo is absolutely tits.... I'm double-tracking quite exclusively now for various reasons and this combo seems to help fill everything out...
BUT, like I said, the reamp of the bass through our Mesa is adding a LOT to the overall guitar sound.... first time I've tried it and I'll probably end up doing it a LOT more often....
Cheers!
