Sinking Passive Pick-up Into Active Bass? Please Help me!?

First of all, i know next to bugger all about electrics, but i recently aquired a 1985 washburn b50 Rudy Sarzo sig' bass, and have found a really decent looking Bartolini replacement pickup that should fit.
I was wondering if first of all its possible to stick a passive pickup into an active bass? would that just make the electronics all passive?
would the wiring be simple enough to do?
please tell me your thoughts and any usefull tips

The pickups themselves aren't active, only the electronic section is.

"Active" pickups typically use a battery and quite often the pots (volume and tone knobs) are different in size than those used in standard pickups. You will have to rewire your bass to install a passive pickup as you will likely have to replace the pots as well.
