Sixpounder recording to flame...........

Guitars and bas are too flat. They have no low end. Make them bigger by adding lows and highs (100% left/right panning?). Drums are very loud, i'm missing the brutal OOOOoMMMMPPP (wall of sound by guitars+bas).

i'll give your clip a listen as soon as i get home.
but just out of curiosity, what rig did alexi use on the album?

mmh...afaik he's using emg hz pickups and some kind of emg booster a la afterburner, too. definitely reasonable, considering that the lee jackson is rather mid gain by today's standarts.

All his albums besides the new excuse for an album were recorded with the J-50BC and a JE-1000 as the booster.

thanks. then i mixed it up with his ESPee signature...afaik that one has the EMG hz4 or whatever that thing is called in the bridge.

btw, downloaded your clip. besides the obvious mixing issues (drums way too loud etc), i think the guitars should have more highs and a tad less gain. try backing off the gain like 30% or something and record multiple tracks to get some thickness back in. alexi's sound often is very bright and low gain, except maybe for something wild :)

hmm, all the stuff i saw during 2003 was either peavey or engl, i know roope has been using vht for a while now, is it possible you saw his rig and not alexi's? or was that while alexander was still in the band?
