Skid Row

Perhaps, call me a defender of original line-ups and lost causes :D The same happened with me with Thin Lizzy, no one can fill Lynnot's shoes but if only Brian Downey would have tood in the band I would have consider more the work of the "revamped" band, Gorham and Sykes are not enough for me.

On the other hand I didn't mind Stauch leaving Bling Guardian, but I'm still a bit pissed with Bobby Jarzombek leaving Riot. I'm complex.

so you'd rather have a dickinson less maiden? a guns n roses without duff, steven or slash? ac/dc never making an album with brian johnson? ian gillan not singing for deep purple on machine head? phil anselmo not in pantera?

all those would take away from the original line-up but they were great in the new form

Two things for me...

- Despite the fact that Bob Rock produced it, Subhuman Race is still my favorite Skid Row album. Not as heavy as Slave to the Grind, but pretty damn close. Although it IS more heavy in spots, check out "Bonehead", and the just brutal "Beat Yourself Blind". IMO, just as catchy though with "Into Another", "Frozen", "Eileen", & "Firesign".

- Secondly, I have no desire to hear a Bach-less Skid Row. Call me crazy...:erk: :Smug:

...and, on cue, Monkey Business starts to play from my XM radio. :headbang:

didn't bob rock produce slave to the grind too?

  1. There are original line-ups and classic line-ups, don't stir needlessly the waters
  2. Considering what Maiden is doing these days they can stood with Blaze anyway
  3. I rather don't have Pantera at all
  4. Guns'n'Roses? :Smug:
Now that I got those out of my chest, I hope it's clear that for me some bands are indeed a certain line-up and another is not appealing or the band at all. Clear examples are:

Deep Purple Mk.II, Mk.III or the actual one are acceptable, I don't care for the Mk.I or Mk.IV
Rainbow regardless of the singer is always acceptable
Rush without Peart is not acceptable
Uriah Heep without Box/Byron/Hensley is not acceptable
Falconer without Blad is not acceptable
Angel Dust without Dirk Thurisch is heavily questionable (but we have to see)
Anthrax with Bush is skippable, but certainly the last album with Belladona was crap
Baron Rojo was the de Castro brothers, Sherpa and Hermes
Black Sabbath for real at least have to have Iommi/Butler/Ward
Blue Oyster Cult is Roeser/Bloom/Lanier/Bouchard/Bouchard, after Albert and Joseph left I stopped following the band
Camel was Bardens/Latimer/Ward at least
Focus was Thijs Van Leer, Jan Akkerman and Pierre Van Der Linden at least
Candlemass has to have Messiah Marcolin
Dream Theater for me at least have to have Portnoy/Petrucci/LaBrie (i hope they don't shuffle keys anymore)
Megadeth for me is Mustaine/Ellefson at least
Steel Prophet for me at least has to have Steve Kachinsky and Vince Dennis
Suicidal Tendencies without Rocky George is not acceptable (although TAOR is already a bad album)
Metal Church is way more than just Kurdt Vanderhoof, at least Duke Erickson and Kirk Arrington has to be and either Wells or Marshall on guitars, and I prefer Howe over Wayne.

and I can go on and on for days

But hey, I'm not twisting your arm so listen your own way and leave mine alone.

I've always thought as long as you have the same core songwriters, that's half the battle right there.

That being said, most of the new Skid album has grown on me... I still say it's their weakest to date, but there are also some true gems on it. If you enjoyed Thick Skin (read: thought that album was worthy of another spin) pick up their new disc.

I say, "Vote Bach for Singer!" for skid row man. They got to get together, I mean, the feeling of seeing them on stage for me would be a suicide cuz my heart will be filled with to much happiness, I'm 17 old boy living in sweden and the chance is like minimal to get to see any bands.. Well I saw Bach last year on Sweden Rock Festival and that was a killer, but I missed the autograph signing.

i dont like others singers for skid row, its like bach is meant to be..

am i bloody right or not?

i like the bush era more, yes megadeth has to have the 2 dave's, dream theater with the 3 you named and myung and moore was the best line-up.

btw when i mentioned guns n roses it was originally axl/izzy and 2 other guys and traci guns was in it for a minute. slash, duff and steven all came after during 1985 and guns n roses was formed in early 1984. and pantera had 2 singers before phil anselmo joined in 1988 and the other 2 singers are on albums they recorded
