slate kick 10 processing

I remember i sent you a pod patch a while back from a song of mine and you didn't even say thank you.

I don't really like the slate samples...at first i was like ZOMFGZ bettr thn suiperior!!!1 BUT superior is just so much better and natural sounding. With slate kicks i have to make surgical cuts at 110Hz to stop all the resonating hum from those kicks and they just don't pack enough punch so i'm trying to combine a lot of samples, namely the tama faderhead one which was posted on this forum a while ago. Try some parallel compression to make it sound more 'fat'

cut some mid around 250hz

Hey man, I just wanted to say we all really appreciate this little message of yours. I'm sure the opening poster has been waiting for the answer all this time, and I'm sure I'm speaking for us all when I say I have also been waiting.

Finally, someone resurrected this thread... Thus shalt no bass drum soundeth shit!

haha you know what Lasse.
On one of the last things i did i used Kick 10 and snare 12... no real reason!!! pure coincidence
I remember hearing joey had used snare 11a so i made a point of avoiding that one!!!
;) or was it 13 a i used..... cant remember

Man that is sounding right nice! What kind of processing have you got going on, if much? I've not ventured much into kick1, but I don't remember it sounding that nice! Also loving that Gerard Butler does vocals for that band!

Yeah, he is. You bumped a 6 month old thread with an answer that was as well thought out as it was indicative of you not having read the whole thread.

no, that was 1,5 weeks ago.

*edit* win!!!

Best processing for any slate kick is to not use them on their own... They suck IMO, but when blended right they're wonderful

:Smug: really?????
Nah they sound awesome. almost a bit TOO awesome.
But im all about blending them into a drum sound that i build from the kit first to fill in the gaps.

LOL  hes from Cumbria (workington) so his accent comes through quite alot in his singing!

as far as processing its EQ>COMP>LIMITER>EQ>MULTIBAND COMP

the multiband comp is only on during the heavier passages and is working on the high and low end, ill post a small image of all the processing, don't want everyone pinching my settings ;):goggly:

bare in mind the kick is then going thru the drum buss with buss compression and a tad bt of clipping, and then through the master buss of clipping and comp
