Bands saying that is sooooooooo cliche. Just once I want a band to say " This is not the most brutal thing we've ever done. This isn't what you expect from _____. We did our best in the studio. If you don't like it, fuck off."Well it is cliche, but not uncommon for artists to consider there latest work to be progressively better. It always more exciting when your in the studio, working on new material, alot of time it just seems to feel that way to me at least. Some bands thankfully can recognize when they've made masterpeices in the past that overshadow there current work. Cryptopsy for example played "None so Vile" in its entirety on there last U.S. tour, that was really awesome.

dunno, just though slayer would be above that. especially since their early work is seminal, and their last few have utterly bombed. i do understand they gotta keep the diehards on board, though.
Yea, its kind of hard for me to take phrases like "no one will be dissapointed" and "maybe faster than anything we've ever done" seriously after hearing the last few records. Who knows, maybe they'll be "revitalized" working as the original lineup again though.

i don't think Slayer needs to prove anything anymore ... and they certainly never fell far from their roots ... some shitty songs lately, yes, but musically they have been pretty consistent.
and Slayer diehards will always be around ... it's really the live show that matters ... and I said it before ... there is NOTHING like Slayer live.

Yeah, Slayer don't even need to make any more records. They could just keep touring on existing material and they'll sell out every show with just die hard fans.
That's why I don't understand the crappy support bands they take out. If they're going to pack the house anyway with die hards, they should just take out bands like Sodom or Destruction etc. It's not like they need to branch out.
