Slayer - War at the Warfield / Still Reigning

those dvd's are "ok"

two words:

Live Intrusion

nuff said'....just kidding

but I would choose Reign In Blood Live: Still Reigning over war at the warfield

warfield's documentary on the "fans" is sorta annoying and makes you want to press the skip button alot!!!

Still Reigning is a more of a proper release (in my opinion) but I did find the blood falling on the stage "gimmick" at the end was very cheesey and stupid.

If you're skeptical try renting them, they are pretty much avail. anywhere. I netflixed both those and I preferred Still Reining as well.

I personally thought the blood rain was evil, truly wicked and a great ending to a no doubt brutal neckbreaking show!

The problem with 'warfield' IMHO is those bloody segments between the songs. I mean wtf??? When I buy a live dvd I want to see the performance. Not see BS in between the songs.

'Still Reigning' does not have that. That along makes it better to watch for me.

No kidding. Save the BS for an "Extras" segment. That's a shame because the Warfield is an absolutely killer place to see a show.

I agree! especially when the BS is the biggest MORONS they could find ... I dont watch dvds to see The MORON fans I try to avoid when at a show... other than the excessive amount of IDIOTS the songs are great the setlist is awsome! the Morons suck!!!

Yeps, saw there in my No. Cal days, Megadeth, Blind Melon, Social Distortion and many, many more!

The best Slayer video out there is the (no doubt hard to find) Ultimate Revenge video from waaaaay back.

War at the Warfield is ok performance wise, but Slayer, apparently, mostly has fans who watch a lot of pro wrestling (no offense to fans here - of either). Plus, the modern Slayer, for my money, is just too high pitched or something, if that makes sense. Rick Rubin, who has a good track record I realize, ruined them for me long ago. Still, these live videos are the best way to go with them. A mix of the best songs from the lamer eras....plus good old stuff.

The only two that I can remember are Alice Cooper and Melissa Etheridge. I know there was more but I just can't think of them. The Etheridge show was an education. :OMG:

I believe for the Soundtrack to the Apocalypse boxset they used some material from the Ultimate Revenge video.maybe two songs.I'll check the fine print later.but it is sorta funny because the video as a track listing of four songs.. and they only used two songs(I think) I guess they'll release those later on..

no I checked they only used "die by the sword" from the Ultimate Revenge video. they left out "Antichrist","Hell Awaits",and "Chemical Warfare".

I still have the VHS of this. I clearly remember rushing out to buy it in...oh, 1986?

How much did it cost you? I remember it was like $80 or something ridiculous like that. Way too much for my broke teenage ass.

I like both dvd's, but Still Reigning is probably better. Someone mentioned Live Intrusion, is that available on dvd yet? I've almost wore my dubbed copy of that out.

Haha. Yeah, I had to mail order it (lived in a rural area back then). I was disapointed with the Venom portion, but always wondered why they didn't have footage from the actual show (I believe the footage is from Hammersmith Odeon). I figured they either melted down, got too drunk, or some such. Hard to say. It would be interesting to know though.
