I'm New here
I've seen the band here in Toronto
Thought they where GREAT, but I passed out within two songs!
I have Narcolepsy and other whacked out shit with me
But my pal said it might of been because the band breaks down in to some really mellow trace groove stuff.
He said other people call it Snore Metal.
I know when that band Nevermore played, I fucking stood up and had a fucking fit of metal.Opeth sounded good though from what I can rememeber. What is the bands best CD?

The best Opeth album is subjective; everyone here has their own personal favorite. So, in other words, you can pick out any album at random and it will be a great pick in my opinion. However, all of their albums are different and have their own distinct characteristics, so you should keep in mind that you cannot base Opeth on one album. For now, just go with Blackwater Park and/or Still Life.

Go with any one album and or ALL OF THEM. :)

Don't start with Deliverance. I did, and for a while I thought all other Opeth sucked, because Deliverance is so different. The truth is though, Deliverance is worse than the rest. :) So start with Blackwater Park, definitely. Then Still Life. And then Morningrise. And then MAYH. By that time you'll be able to appreciate the beauty of MAYH. Then you can go buy Orchid and Damnation, but remember to take every album one by one.

everyone has an opinion.

if you like complex music (long interesting songs with fantastic acoustic melodies and classic heavy metal/rock riffs... oh man they are awesome) - get Morningrise. it's an album that can be listened to again and again without getting boring. my personal favorite...

if you like nu-metal - get BWP - no it's not nu-metal... but it's the most accessible (next to Damnation)... Good album, most people who are new to the band like it best...

if you like concept albums - get Still Life or MAYH - both tell great stories.

if you like classic old school metal (Iron Maiden) - get Orchid...

if you like prog/rock get Damnation

if you like straight forward Death Metal - get Deliverance...

Opeth's older stuff is a bit more creative... the newer stuff sounds rushed to me... but hey, everyone has a different opinion... a lot of people would tell you I'm crazy... you really can't go wrong, all are good. You might just want to start at Orchid and get them in order...

Blackwater Park, Deliverance, Damnation, and Still Life are the worst.

Start with Morningrise, go on to Orchid and My Arms, Your Hearse... and stop there.

The rest are unnecessary and will only waste your money.

Are you insane by any chance???? :yow: Deliverance, BP and Still Life are all awesome!!

1st . Troy. dont listen to this guy :erk:

I would start with Morningrise :)

MAYH is definately my favourite, but i think that it would be a definite no-no for a first Opeth album; it's very hard to get into. I would recommend Still Life to start off with, and then maybe later buy My Arms Your Hearse.
