Has anyone here checked out Lair Of The Minotaur? They are kinda like a mix between Sludge and Thrash, with a bit of Grindcore mixed in for good measure, so I'm guessing some of you would dig them, I know I do

Check out anything Scott Weinreich has ever done. That's sludge, I think... it's cool, anyways.

fuckin love Crowbar especially "Obedience Thru Suffering" and Corrosion of Conformity's Blind album. But Wiseblood and Deliverance are great too. The older stuff like Animosity doesn't touch me so much cause the groove is missing..
and about the Hatebreed issue haha. I have all Hatebreed albums. They're alright. I can understand you not to like em but they deserve respect in my opinion. They are not that gay metalcore band like many think. Perseverance is an album worth to check out for sure.

I like Odd Fellow's Rest and Equilibrium by Crowbar, those albums are high in terms of the ipmact they had on me as a player.

I still need Life's blood for the Downtrodden the selftitled and maybe odd fellows rest by Crowbar.
But "Obedience Thru Suffering" and "Time Heals Nothing" are superior in my opinion..

On a serious note, do people actually still play sludge? I don't think the 'genre' (if it even qualifies as a genre) has advanced whatsoever since 1996

I doubt it really, Acid Bath was pretty big in the scene, they're gone, I doubt Eyehategod's been doing shit, any band that really mattered in the scene is either gone or doing other shit.

But the point still stands. Seems like sludge went from something that was pretty awesome to something that mostly consists of older band trying to relive former glories and/or shit bands with no fans.

Yeah. I really wish Acid Bath would fucking reunite, and I kinda wish Crowbar went back to some of their older shit...

Maybe bring back Superjoint while they're at it.

Sludge is kinda like me in a way, where they say they're going to do something awesome, start doing it, then get bored and go do something completely different.

It's like if Metal had an awesome kid with ADHD, sludge metal would be it. "TUNE LOW PLAY SLO--IS THAT A CAT? I THINK THATS A CAT! THATS A FUCKING CAT!" *starts chasing the cat*

Yup, 'atmospheric' sludge bands, like Isis, which is like, the best music, ever.
