Sm7 when micing drums?

I am about to start recording a full length with my band that we have been working on for nearly two years. Obviously I want to get things right...but I also want to experiment with the gear I have as much as possible.

With that being said, my mic closest it decent but fairly limited currently: 2 sm81s, 2 rode nt5, 4 sm57, 1 sm7, 1 beta52, 1 rode nt1. I plan on getting a at4040 or the akg414 soon as well.

What would you guys suggest trying the sm7 on for drums? I have done a few productions and have yet to try it one anything in the drum room...

I'm sure it would work on any part of the kit, just hard to place.

I'd put it on hats or inside kick. The Beta 52 is nice but it can sometimes be a bit boomy for metal kick sounds. The SM7 might tighten things up a bit.

use it on hats 90% of the time, and sometimes inside the kick, snare top, snare bottom,.....anywhere I'd use a d112/beta52/421....havn't tried it on toms though cause I only have 1.
