Snare Head Comparison (AQUARIAN vs. REMO)

I, too, prefer the Aquarian. Much appreciated for taking the time to do this.

Another vote for the Aquarian. Altough the desired snaredrum sound is VERY dependant on the song imo, I think the aquarian sounds more...one-snare-fits-all?

The Aquarian sounds better on this clip, BUT....

The snare is tuned so differently between the clips that it's not really a fair comparison. The Aquarian's lower tuning sounds better with the drum itself and the lower fundamental makes it sound meatier.

^ i agree that the tuning makes a difference. however to me, the aquarian seems to overall sound better.

this makes me want to give the aquarian head a shot - i've always used remo as i've seen no reason to try any of the relatively similar heads by one of the other major drumhead manufacturers. although they both take advantage of using a dot/ring to control the sound, it seems a ring towards the ring works better than a dot in the center of the head.

thanks for the comparison.

Remo for me, I love the way that thing rings! My drummer switched to the CS recently and hasn't looked back.

Hey, thanks for your replies!

IMO one big advantage for the Remo - you can muffle it, if it sounds too open.
If the Aquarian sounds to flat, you can do nothing.
