I use D-verb for drums, often the same verb AUX channel with differently panned-sends from each drum channel, sent at different levels

I used to love Freeverb 2 back when I was a cheapie.
These days I'd advocate good plate and room verbs. Maybe a room for the kit along with a plate for just the snare. Including of course the annihilated room mics.

FreeVerb is a really good reverb though, gotta admit that 
I use effects such as reverb and delay quite scarcely though so I'm not that picky about what I use. Most people won't be able to tell what reverb I'm using anyway. For drums though, I would probably just stick to impulses.
