So I am now officially hooked...

I still think there are 'toons that are better than movies, most of the 80's japanese stuff was great, it was all about fun ;) and yes today's japanese stuff seems emo as Habsburgs said, now most anime's just fail hahah
Even my buddies tells me I'm a nerd when it's time of guitar/recording gear and I think most of you are recording nerds ;) so I think everyone got their own interest, don't judge ;)

Dudes, the only 3 Anime's I watched with absolute passion in my life were "Berserk", of course "Saber Rider" and "Great Teacher Onizuka" ... GTO was hilarious!!! :D

Hear hear! :kickass:

Holy shit, that's bizarre - those voices and the dialogue is totally different in the official DVD's I've been watching (the "over 9000" line is still there though  )

Bumpage dedicated to Marcus himself! :D

So as I posted in another thread a new-old series of Dragonball started off. It's called 'Kai', and basically it's the old DBZ series but shortened to main storyline and with renewed graphics and sounds. Well it's always good to watch some new DB stuff, but I'm kinda disappointed cuz obviously brand new series with new episodes would be much cooler!

Yeah, I heard a bit about Kai - I dunno, it kinda seems like it could suffer from "Star Wars syndrome"; I love the original DBZ episodes for what they are, and I'm hesitant to see them changed. That said, I only got into the show about 8 months ago, so I've been watching them all on DVD, and interestingly enough, the Saiyan and Namek sagas were all dubbed with the Funimation voices AFTER all the later sagas, so all the voices are actually much better IMO (especially Chris Sabat's, he differentiates much better between the Piccolo and Vegeta voices in those two then in the later sagas IMO, though I haven't watched past the Cell Games saga...yet :)) Yeah, basically, I just rarely like remakes (especially MGS: Twin Snakes, I MUCH prefer the original, mainly cuz I feel the vocal performances were WAY better in the original).

Do you know if they're gonna span the whole of DBZ?

And to further reinforce why I love this show, the main thing is comradeship between the characters; there are really strong bonds and excellent relationships formed, which lead to some fantastic emotional moments, and there's also fantastic continuity between sagas - the characters really make it, though!

As for what I've read it's going to be compressed to 100 episodes, so nearly 2/3 episodes goes down.

Damn I've watched Dragonball on tv as a kid many years ago, and been a huge fan ever since. All 3 series are fantastic, watching one episode after another it's almost hypnotising. You can feel the atmosphere, familiarize with characters (always liked Vegeta the most :) )... Great experience.

Dude you're speaking of the voices. The version that was emitted on tv here was dubbed but in... FRENCH! There was a polish reader too, but sometimes it was just hilarius hearing some dead-serious life-matter conversation between Goku and Freeza parlais vou francais :goggly: I've seen a few english-dubbed episodes and it was like a sunshine out of elephants vagina. 100000 better. But what can I do...

Have you seen the new movie yet?

Nah, from what I've heard it's crap, and I'm really not surprised :erk: And I forget that the Funimation people only did the US dub, and for once that's not the standard  Still, I think I'd rather watch it in Japanese than French! :goggly: I've only watched DBZ (and only through the Cell Games saga), is DBGT any good? And what about the rest of DBZ? I'm kinda bummed that it picks up 7 years after the Cell Games...

I used to like anime... or so I thought, when I was around 16-17. But when I dwelled too deep into it, I just felt emo, it was weird. Then I grew out of it and just screwed it.

There are a few good ones though, that are just simply GOOD, not emo, no drama bullshit, just good. Like a regular good movie. Cowboy Bebop is one of 'em... the music is AWESOME on that one :)

Not sure if I know many more animes that are really good... ah well, Ergo Proxy is amazing but it's on the emo and drama side of things, unfortunately.

Well the DBGT isn't IMO as good as Z, it's shorter and less hmm... dramatic? But tho it's absolutely defintely worth watching! I won't sell you any spoilers, except one: SSJ4 :) The Buu saga- some cool new characters appear, new powers and... well you'll watch it anyway

A for other anime's, well I'm not a fanatic but I really enjoyed watching Cowboy Bebop. Other good ones I remember were Hellsing and Slayers. Haven't seen much more I'm afraid.

Cool, yeah, I haven't watched any anime besides DBZ, but I'm definitely more open to the idea now!
