Been off for a few weeks, turn it on last night and it just clicks? Luckily I have no real important stuff but a few things I'd love to get back.

Harddrive in the freezer trick time?

Well if it's not going through post, then you don't have a hard drive problem, you have a MB problem. If you have a HD problem, it will go through post but stall at trying to boot your OS.

So if you are getting an error about no HD connected, I'm pretty sure you made it through POST :)

yup, If it is telling you that you have no HDD connected, the PC passed POST.

all these threads about failed hard drives are a prime example of why you should have a 1:1 backup of your OS drive, or at the very least a folder of all your important stuff that you don't want to lose
