So the Giants pulled it out of their asses...

I'll echo the sentiments of those who were rooting against the Pats, instead of rooting for the the Giants. I've never been a Giant fan (although I live in NJ). And when Eli snubbed San Diego, I developed a serious dislike for the youngest Manning. However, the Patriots are:

A) a Boston team (the Redsox of football, if you will)
B) have a coach I dislike
C) play the game devoid of sportsmanship
D) are cheaters
E) needed a good comeuppance

I think the Patriots (along with most of America) just kept expecting they'd make a play when it mattered. Consequently, they never really upped their intensity, during the game, like you would have expected a team to do. You have to tip your hat to the Giant D, and especially the line. They made the Pat O-Line their bitch last night. And good for Coughlin. The man deserves a ring.

How are the Patriots the Red Sox of baseball? They are more Yankees than Red Sox.

i'd have to agree. The Yankees definitely walk the line of cheating in that they basically buy championships. THey are a mercenary baseball team. Hell, they really aren't a team, just a bunch of free agents with no loyalty to the actual Yankee organization other than "Hey, he's paying me multi gajillions!."

Not that Boston is entirely innocent, though. But that's why it's easy to root for say, the Marlins when they beat the Yankees 6 or 7 years ago. The Marlins were a bunch of guys that came together and gelled. In short, they were a team.

I hate the Yankees, the Lakers, the Patriots and Colts. My favorite teams are consistently their opponents.

I think I am one of the few Patriots fans on this site.I can see why people hate them. What funny is that when I tell Patriots fans that they cheated, they go nuts.I don't like the Colts, but I do like Peyton Manning. The Lakers I can't stand. The Yankees are my least favorite team in any sports, although they do have great history. It's fun when teams like the Rays get in the World Series.

I liked the Patriots because I was a Bledsoe fan and that carried over when Brady took over (Michigan fan, as well).
Don't give a shit about the Red Sox.
Liked the Lakers when Magic played for them; don't give a shit since.
Side with the Yankees only when they play against the Indians.
Liked the Colts before Manning. He ruined them for me.

I don't believe in wagons and generally step to the side when they pass.

When I first moved to Ohio, I worked with this woman whose douchebag boyfriend was more verbally abusive than anyone I have ever encountered...treated her like complete and total shit. His life revolved around the Indians and my distaste for him soon transferred onto the team. I grew up a Twins fan and was always happy to see the Indians lose, but it was never anything more than that until I met that piece of shit.

"Nah, I'm not going to end up in some grave. When I die, just throw me in the trash!"

Anything connected with any eastern conference/division/league can go straight to Hell so who cares? There's guys playing in Vancouver, Anaheim, and San Jose that make Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby look average in comparison but no one knows who they are because the rest of the continent is always subjected to the ridiculous bias of the east-based news/sports media.
Test - heard of any of these guys? Shea Weber. Daniel Sedin. Patrick Marleau. Ryan Getzlaf. Jerome Iginla.

Hockey never on the news.East coast bias is towards sports like baseball.

Crosby's not nearly worth the hype that is heaped upon him, and I disagree about Ovechkin. As for the others, it's a good question as to why more hasn't been said about Getzlaf, Iginla, and either Sedin. Marleau's overrated in my opinion, and Weber would be getting more attention if he wasn't playing for Nashville. To me though, the most overlooked player is Anze Kopitar.
