I HIGHLY DOUBT THIS FROM THE OLD SCHOOL GANG, BUT, IT WOULD BE AN INTERESTING THREAD. I HOPE IT BRINGS SOME INTERESTING STORIES.

HAVE YOU EVER GONE TO A CONCERT, AND WHEN YOU WAKE UP THE NEXT DAY, YOU DON'T HAVE A SOAR BACKNECK?

THAT IS ONE THING THAT HAS NEVER EVER HAPPENED TO ME. :headbang:

I think I used to get that When I was your age :loco: My first concert was a Overkill show :) And it was one hell of a night the place was packed for Overkill and it was wild That was the first time I was involuntary involved with a mosh pit filled with Giants ya know those really big dude that crush everybody Well that was many years ago I dont remember to much of it anymore there a few things that will last forever .... I have oficially forgotten what the hell I was getting at here lol Soar Backneck sounds like Riding in a car for way to long I get that everytime

damn ,i take my zimmer frame to gigs these days.got in the pit for slayer last year for about 30 seconds before i realised i was too old and needed to work the next day.one of the first gigs i ever went to see was onslaught and annihilator.that was the first time i stage dived-poor fuckers trying to catch a hippo like me.boy did i hurt after that one.i guess you need to stay fit to stay in the pit.the drummer in my band is 35 and he still dives in to all of them,he loves it.me,i just want some cocoa afterwards.

Ha ha ha sure it has happened to me. I am first and foremost a metalhead above anything else musically, but I am also a musician as a close second. I have been to non-metal concerts and enjoyed some of them.
One of te best bands I have ever seen as far as sounding true to their studio sound was a band called Sister Hazel. They played locally at a good sized festival, so I chacked them out. They play what I can only describe as "acoustic rock." They actually sat down in chairs and played their drums and acoustic guitar (electric bass though) but they sounded great.
Another great band I saw was Heart. Only "Barracuda" was really head-banging material, but Ann Wilson (vocalist) was absolutely incredible. Don't get me wrong, as the whole band was tight but Ann could sing like few performers I have ever saw.
Lastly, I saw Dio in 1985 supporting "The Last in Line" tour. His stage show with lasers and him actually slaying a mechanical dragon on stage with a laser sword was so awesome, hardly anyone head-banged. Almost everyone stood there with their mouths hanging open in awe through most of the concert including your's truly.

I never was one for the pit, I want to see the band not someone's elbow in my eye. :) I was more into hanging back and checking out the band, wathcing how they pull stuff off live and what kind of equipment they used. I was a big gear head as a kid, started playing guitar in 1984. Not that I was one of those "musician" guys in the back with their arms crossed and a "just try and impress me" attitude. I just liked to hang back and take it all in.

Thats the best way to do it :) isnt the point of when you go and see a band to actually SEE the band :Spin:

Hahaha....cool! I thought I may get some "you're a pussy" replies to that post. :) Nice to know I'm not the only non-pit member here. Nothing against the Pit People, it was just never for me.

I had a more headband subject in mind for a soar backneck discussion, butwhat the heck, t turned into a pit thread.

I always like to go in the pit but I am balanced. I check out the band, walk around, headbang crowdsurf and then some pit.

Usually I get in the pit involuntarily, it's just that the song is so good that I just get the urge to go in. I am not stupid though, if it looks too risky, I stay out, I mean, I am only about 5'7 and about 160 lbs

the best pits are the ones with a variety of sizes, I hate the ones with like only
5 giants in them. I also hate the easy ones with people smaller or of my size, its just too easy.

gigs wasn't just about the pit coz when i saw slayer back in 1985 at the marquee london (wardour st) in the good old days when a ticket cost 3.25 yes that much sorry side tracked. there was on room for a pit it was just a sea of hair just like the metallica lyrics heads are bobbing all around you know the rest .any way great gig you had to be there .none of this ninja mosh bollox if you want to do that sort of thing go to a gym
