SOCCER NATION!

Exactly.....Any other EPL team other than Man U and i'd have been dissapointed.....maybe add Everton to that list. Kind of glad they lost the FA Cup....although i'm not a huge fan of Chelsea either.
Those are the 3 EPL teams i hate.

Anyone watching USA-Costa Rica WC Qualifier tonight? I thought we were done with all the AstroTurf crap? Second Costa Rican goal was ridiculous. Its as if the defense just mailed it in.

Its good that the US posted a comeback, else their World Cup chances would have gotten a little less clear. Now they'd have to play really terrible to drop out of the top 3.

Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo just signed with Real Madrid.

Oh boy, I have a feeling Man. U will lose a lot of fans now. Bandwagon losers... hahahahaha

On a serious note, Real Madrid will be a tough team to beat next year. I wonder what other big signings we'll see in the next few months.

I'll be trying to get my hand on some tix to the United vs Real Madrid on 8/9...

I'd love to see a kick ass soccer team from overseas in person and hopefully in a great stadium setting (with no airborne bags of poo nor riots)...

Hah...bags of poo and riots... whatever... The day you watch a soccer game in Europe or South America, then we'll talk. The US crowds are usually pretty boring, and honestly, everything is "too controlled".

Well I dunno about anyone else, but I'd like to survive a soccer match without having to run on to the pitch to avoid a mass beatdown of rival fans...

I'd go to a match overseas 'cause when the crowd is really into the game (an not killing opposing team's fans) it'd be awesome to be a part of... Ole, ole, ole.. ooooole... ooooole!!!!

Atleast I've got GoalTV now!!!! Can't get FSC without buying into a higher cable teir... So Goal TV it is!!!

You sound like you believe that every single soccer match overseas is like that. Come on now... If you wanna sit down and watch a soccer game quietly, do it at home. It doesn't compare it to the actual adrenaline of watching a soccer game the way it's supposed to be done. And I'm by no means a hooligan. In fact, I hate violence in soccer.

Again, the typical stereotype. Not a very smart assumption.

Goal TV is awesome. I had FSC for a while but the signal for some reason wasn't great. It took a while for it to be fixed. There's a lot of good stuff on Goal TV, it's definitely worth it, though. I have it myself.

Well seeing that prior to increased coverage, 99% of overseas soccer that's been available to the US has been a blurb here n' there about the bad stuff at soccer games, you expect another type of outlook??

Personally, I've never been to a game overseas.. and you're just assuming I think every soccer game is like that period.. and that is just plain silly... I was being a smartass, nothing more.. it was a joke... calm yourself and your "sterotypes"

Cristiano Ronaldo will be playing in the MLS in a few years becuase it just seems like he is trying to be the next David Beckham.

So, the Confederations Cup finally started. It is considered a "mini" world cup, almost. The popularity of this tournament has grown exponentially in the last few years. The group stages began yesterday:

GROUP A
Iraq 0-0 South Africa
Spain 6-0 New Zealand

GROUP B
Brazil 4-3 Egypt
Italy 3-1 USA

In Group A, no surprises. Spain did their job, which was to annihilate a team who had no chance at all. Torres scored 3 times! Iraq and South Africa played a boring game, with a very unusual moment. A South African player took a shot with an empty goal, for the victory, and the ball was saved on the line by....ANOTHER South African player! LOL It was pretty ridiculous!

Group B... let's see.... Brazil won, but didn't convince me. In paper, they're the best team in the tourney. However, somehow, after scoring 3 goals, Brazil's defense kinda shut down, and allowed Egypt to scored two goals. Unbelievable, Egypt scoring 3 times against Brazil, you don't see that every day... haha... Thank God Kaka saved us in the end of the match. I really hope they can do what's expected of them this coming Thursday against the USA, which is, well, another victory. Italy played better than the US the whole entire game. Somehow the Americans scored a goal in a penalty kick in the first half. However, the US got hurt by a red card in the first half. During the second half, Italy did their homework. No surprises.

Even on paper my friend.

We'll see how the cup ends. I won't be surprised if it goes either way.

What I can guarantee you, though, is that for the team Spain has, beating Iraq only 1x0 was very disappointing.

By the way, is there anything more disappointing than New Zealand so far? haha

Yes...but when teams play 9-10 men behind the ball you aren't gonna always get a lot of goals. If Iraq went out and played to win i'm pretty sure there would have been plenty of more holes for Torres and Villa...and Xavi and Alonso could have had some more options. Iraq were playing to minimise goal difference that might help them later on.
Spain rested a few players too and lacked a bit of creativity on the left.

NZ are really shit.

Taliwakker, you gotta remember one thing too... It's the first time in history that Spain has actually had a good game sequence with an important title. If history serves me right, Spain is known for blowing it in the last minute. Sure, they have a team good enough to win every game they play, but keep in mind they know how to ruin it too.

Worst team of the cup will be NZ though, without a doubt. Who do you think will be in the final?
