Bad solos do ruin great songs, but it's not always the same when you switch it around. I mean just look at the Iron Maiden albums with Blaze Bailey. The playing is great, but the songs are anything but.

We need more solos. Though bands like Amon Amarth sound good without a solo in every song, there's just no excuse anymore these days. If you're in a band and you play guitar it's fucken 2007 already there's no excuse not to know how to be creative.
