solo project

I was just wondering since there are too many dudes around here with solo projects and such, what software would be nice to start with?Im talking about recording programs,virtual synths and so on.....can you share some info? thanx in advance, cheers !

I use an M box to record and I just got the total workstation bundle which is a library of sounds and I have a triton le. You still need a controller to use the virtual synths. I mean it's pretty pointless without one unless all you wanna do is make beats. You can however set the notes to be played by your computer keyboard but that's just silly.
