some tips on mix

Hey guys,

i am a noob when it comes to recording decent mixes,here is one of my attempt please guide me as to where i lack.

bass sound is emulated here with guitar and some plug in

1) how much high pass and low pass do you do you use?

2)how do you control the HISS AND ZZZZ sound when you increase the mids around 5khz ad 1.3 khz?
