I've been working a lot on my recordings lately and today I came out with the best guitar tone I have ever produced, so I wanted to share it. It is just de first minute of Judas Priest's Nightcrawler.

On this file you can really hear the guitar sound :

On this one I added vocals, oh well at least I tried.

Yeah, I know, still missing some bass tracks, I'll be working on that.

Let me know what you think :Spin:

sounds really cool, even better than the original IMO

how did you record it?

Pretty simple rig : Guitar (Jackson Kelly) --> Amp (Peavey Triple XXX) --> 15$ mic --> TASCAM Portastudio 414 (acting as a mic preamp) --> PC mic input --> Cool Edit Pro 2.something

For the vocals I used a SM58 (the 15$ cheap ass mic is actually better for instruments recording). The drums are programmed via Fruity Loops.

For the left guitar I placed the mic in front of my upper left speaker, and for the guitar on the right it was in front of the bottom left speaker. This turned out really nice because the left guitar is screamy and the right guitar is a little more bassy, so they complement each other.

It would be nice to add some bass on this one, but I got no means for doing so right now.

not too different from my own setup (except guitar and amp of course, I use BC Rich NJ Warlock and ENGL Sovereign 50).
I use the SM58 for instruments AND vocals (it's my only mic)
what exactly does the TASCAM do? just boost the signal?
