Somewhere in time production

it was recorded on the bahamas, nassau if i remember correctly. mixed on a biiig neve. that´s all i know.

i love the vibe of the synth guitars and stuff. one of my all time maiden favourites.

i found around internet they used as amplifiers the Gallien Krueger instead marshal

I think they were using rack effect units at that time to get all the reverb, delay, chorus, reverb, delay, more reverb and a tough more chorus. but I'm not sure what they used. SOunds good though

Precisely sod all information (of any great detail) seems to be available from older maiden stuff - I was such a maiden freak back in the day and still am a bit so what is to be known publicly I have usually gobbled up! All seems to have been kept under wraps.

a new cover band "Somewhere in town" is growing here at my hometown.
please help to recreate same gears here!

Good luck finding one of these.

cab and amp afaik, it's a solid state amp, poweramp doesn't need that much room ;)
owned one of the Gallien&Krüger guitar cabs, 4x12 with Vintage 30s, it was pretty small,
but deeper than most cabs and pretty heavy for such a small thing.

Yeah it's a full amp (Gallien Kruger 250ML). Thanks for the tornado btw lol.

I've always suspected that you could approximate this type of sound with a rockman preamp (sustainor or whatever they were called) but that's probably just me.
Actually I thought they used one on SIT for a long time. A long time ago I had this super shitty portable phonic preamp which was in fact a rockman knock off and it had the same kind of strange late 80's solid state tone.

That's the GK 250ML, as stated. A beautiful sounding (my opinion, at least) solid state combo amp, with built in compression, chorus, and reverb/delay. What you hear on SIT is THE sound of the GK 250. Several of my friends back in the day had these, and I was able to play through them from time to time. I wish I could dig one up now, or get someone to make an ampsim version of one!
