Sonata Arctica

Yup, Twilightning is very good. I still haven't heard their new one, but their debut album was great.

personally, I thought the 2nd album totally SUCKED.:puke: :yuk:
Lame, lame lame. Every song felt like a rehash of the previous song. And the more I tried to listen to it, the more I hated it AND the 1st album, now I just dislike the band altogether. My opinion anyway.

SONATA ARCTICA is one of my favorite bands -- their is something about their lyrics and musical sound that rings very true with me.

I think the new album is a masterpiece, particularly the song "White Pear, Black Ocean." I think that this song is their "Bohemian Rhapsody" -- if you will. The first time I heard it, I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY. SeaStorm introduced me to it and I'm eternally grateful.

Incidentally, SeaStorm and myself are producing and promoting the Minnesota appearance for Sonata -- hope some of you will show up!

Personally, my favorite Sonata album is Silence....there are just so many classics on that album....there just isn't a single bad song....even on Winterhearts and Reckoning, there are some less-awesome songs....not so with Silence. The weakest song on Silence is Tallulah, and that's just because it is a slow ballad....

Hey man, I agree with you 100% -- my favorite album is Silence also. FALSE NEWS TRAVELS FAST is a very personal song for me -- sums up how I've felt in a number of relationships I've been in. I also think the first 4 tracks on that album flow together so well, you can't start listening to that album without going through those tracks together.

As an aside, Anthrax and Judas Priest were here yesterday....I missed it. I had FRONT ROW TICKETS in my face that my boss had won on the radio. He was going to sell them to me for $40/pair. They were selling for $125 each. But I didn't have the cash on me so he took the tickets and walked away. I felt sadness.:) My friends all claim it was amazing.

Oh man, you missed out. I was one person back from the barrier for the Milwaukee show a few weeks ago. I actually had 8th row seats, but security was non-existent, so as soon as Anthrax started playing, a bunch of us Anthrax fans went right up to the barrier and were allowed to stay there. Great, great show! Both by Anthrax (who I love) and Priest (who I'm not much of a fan of). Sucks that you didn't have cash on hand :(

BTW, did the "now playing" feature dissappear with the site upgrade? I love that feature.

I love Sonata Arctica too! I got lucky enough to meet them after their show in Ottawa, but, of course, I was a little more interested to talk to Henrik...being a key board player!

Dude!!!

I just noticed your AXENSTAR banner in your signature! I thought I was the only one that liked them! Is this their new album that you are advertising for?

It's good to know someone else has heard of Axenstar. I still get blank looks when I mention them to people:tickled:

Yeah, this is for the latest album 'The Inquisition'. I guess the ad is a little out of date now...I should change it.

Awesome album though, their best yet.

I havent' heard Axenstar yet, but I remember seeing an album cover, that has a a very similar color scheme as Theocracy (the album) :)

Agreed, I remember when their Album came out and the cover looked like Theocracy's in the same color scheme.

That's it for those that haven't seen it

That's because Matius Noren did both of them...sheesh, looks like he's recycling his own ideas??? .
Best Graphic artist these days, IMHO, is Robert Rose

Yeah, I guess you could say the others are better mainly down to the production.

I would highly recommend 'The Inquisition' which has some blinding tunes on it. They remind me of a heavier Sonata Arctica.

Their site has samples of some of the songs on it if you wanna check 'em out.:headbang:

I am rather new to metal in general but I absolutely love Sonata Arctica. They are what I have listened to the majority of the last 4 months. I am glad they will be coming to Seattle in February. To me, Unopened, Shamandalie, and End of this Chapter are their bests. Just so awesome...

I like SA farily well. I have two of their albums, but I don't have their latest. It's on my long list of must buys! :)

I've heard nothing but positive remarks about their first US Tour in early 2005. I look forward to when I can see them live as well.

I posted my own review for "Reckoning Night" on Amazon.com a while back. I plan to get their earlier albums, since I have heard stuff from "Silence" on Progged Radio. The song "False News Travels Fast" is the first one I heard from them and it made me go :OMG: Most of the songs on "Reckoning Night" had that same impact on me!
