Thanks. tbh Tales is better instrumentally. A lot more going on in the guitars. The vocals on Ancient Dreams album are the best tho, very passionate. And the instruments leave more space for them.

That's how I'd rank the first four too. I don't see Chapter VI mentioned often. It's worth it for Where the Runes Still Speak alone.

Well, I'm a true doom fan so..

I also think Längquist is a better singer than Messiah which is a factor in putting EDM over Nightfall at the top.

although the blokes voice gets in the way a bit

Yeah that's actually the best from the album, Ultimacy and The Gospel of Inhumanity are great though. They do a great Joy Division cover off Ultimacy.

All of the Blood Axis albums are great though.

Blood Axis is good but it is kind of awkward how most songs are samplings or reworkings of other peoples music or poetry. It works for sure but feels abit like cheating. Lord of Ages and The Ride are two of my favorite tunes by him.

I think it's fairly common within the martial/ambient scene but you're right, I guess there's a connection with the lyrical themes old tunes especially folk tunes regarding Blood Axis.
