Hi, we're Sortilege from Portugal.
Under a shroud of darkness, in September 1995, Sortilege were summoned to exteriorize their rapturing soundscapes.The band hails from Portugal and is constituted by five members: Otrebor (vocals), Juzeph (guitars and keyboards), Rui (guitars), Gonçalo (bass guitar) and Orlando (drums). In November 1996 they entered the studio 125 to record what was to become their first demotape, "A Vision Of Mystery". Despite a very low budget, the tape showed the world the musical abilities of Sortilege, having already earned them very good critics in several fanzines and magazines. In 1999 the 2nd demotape was spawned, "Benighted". Sortilege's music can be described as an original combination of melody and epic brutality, endowed with a morbid sense of esoteric symbolism submerged in a dark nocturnal atmosphere. Until now they have played gigs with Teasanna Satanna, Celtic Dance, Bell Witch, In Tha Umbra, Mortualium, Primeval and Decayed. After a two year period of inactivity, in November 2003 Sortilege came back stronger than ever, and this was proved in the return gig last 13 Dec. 2003, with Filii Nigrantium Infernalium and Teasanna Satanna were the band received good critics by the people in general. The band is now working on new songs to soon record it and release it. In the beggining of 2006, the band lost their rehersal place, and had to be inactive. But now, one of the band members bought a new house, where he has build a permanent studio/rehearsal room. Year of 2007, Sortilege is back once again, stonger than ever. The band is rehearsing once again, to work on some new songs. The band hopes to release a new work very soon. Sortilege will keep on playing their macabre dark metal until the end of time...
