Surely the finest grim vocals in the business. Nothing monotonous about them (same can't be said for 80% of extreme vox), drawing emotion into all his delivery.

Discuss.

There was once a time in this forum that we could start a thread like this and people would know what you were talking about. :tickled:

Ares = vocalist for Aeternus
"When the Crows Shadow Falls" = song from ....and so the night became

OK ok I'll post the song for you noobs later. :loco:

yeah, it's pretty freaking awesome, and I knew the song name... just not the singer name :p

edit: his name definetly fits the band/music though

ARES = me
(those are my initials)

But yeah, this whole album forcefully regurgitates my spleen!

the production, sounding so hollow, is outstanding. The bass and drums are really warm.

if anyone here has the album, go to this song in question, and skip to the 5:10m mark.....lo and behold, some truly astonishing vocals. Emotive death growls, who would have thunk?

I was just listening to this record, and then all of a sudden a mental image of JayKeeley popped up in my head. Craving for a piece of Ali, I log onto the RC board for the first time in a while, and the first thing I see when browsing the forum is this thread. That was a pretty gay coincidence.

This album is fantastic, I randomly put it on yesterday. This and Beyond the Wandering Moon are fucking ace. While BtWM is better :)

haha! is that true?

*manhugs*

I actually listened to this album yesterday and felt the urge to plug them again.

You know my copies of the first three Aeternus releases are all signed by Ares.

Good band, they deserve to be plugged shamelessly on any given occasion. I don't think their new one, "HexAeon" is too shabby either, it's actually a pretty rock solid dark death metal album. Probably won't tickle your fancy, though, but it's worth a shot, I s'pose!

haha, spun AStNB and Ascension of Terror the other day.

my fave on AStNB is track #2, And We March or something.

track #8 on AoT is so damn metal

I think I've got one Aeturnus track somewhere in my folder of randomly downloaded shitz.

*checks*

Yep, I've got The Lair Of Anubis.

*listens*

Now I'm depressed because I can't afford to order the albums. I knew there were one or two in this folder that I really, really liked...

Too bad they hardly play any of their old stuff live anymore... Last time I saw them, they played one song from "Shadows of Old". "Descent to the Underworld", I think...

But yeah, they really are very good...

Yeah, same here. Saw them live at the Inferno festival in '04. Good show, but it would've been so much better if they'd played evergreen classics such as "Sworn Revenge".

Edit: They played "Under The Eternal Blackened Sky" from "Shadows Of Old", of course. One of their finest songs, in my opinion.

Indeed... I kept shouting for "Embraced", but I think it bothered their bassist, who stood right in front of me, so I left it...

I've only got Beyond The Wandering Moon and love it dearly. I'm looking to pick up a couple more of their albums, so which releases by them should top me list?
