SPITZ funny

i think it's funny (and sad) the way he makes out that he was a more important part of anthrax than he actually was.
like he really wrote any of those songs...
the guy is soooo fucking arrogant.

Holy fuck!
Spitz is a raving lunatic!! His site is fun, though.....fun to laugh at a creepy, lazy-eyed, swiss-watch fixin, Jesus Jumpin, former has been!
Spitz should go to Switzerland, and listen to the Cuckoos---they are calling him!

Dan was a really important part of Anthrax in my book. He's a big part of the sound. And I know this is a minority opinion here, but the albums with Dan have a certain spark the following ones never quite grab.

Hell, I have no identity here anyway. I might as well be the "Dan Spitz Fanboy."

He is good, though. I like what he contributes to the Anthrax core years. And I miss his stuff on the new albums.

maybe you liked those thrax albums that just 'happened' to have spitz in the lineup?
please tell me how he was a "big part of the sound"- all the rhythm guitar parts were always done by scott (i'm 99% sure of this). and scott's guitar IS the anthrax 'sound'- not dan spitz's.
so as far as i can see, spitz only contributed his leads to those records...and they were not that memorable anyway- nothing like alex skolnick in testament or rocky george in suicidal tendencies. now those were players who really 'gave' something to the bands they were in. just my 2 cents...
spitz gave little to thrax.

"The reason that it is funny is he makes it sound (at least to me) like he was the sole reason Anthrax was so great."

bingo! you said what i was trying to say, in one sentence. well done. english was never my strong point...

It always seemed to me, even as a pup listening to the old records, that Spitz's solos were just sorta pasted into the songs. Not until PoT and SoWN did they even really "fit" - a couple of them even seemed to come in at an unnaturally high volume, as if the rest of the song was finished, and they just stuffed the solo in at the last minute. Anyone else get that impression, then or now?

Dan will always get respect from me for being a part of such an important band during their formative years. But it's kind of depressing to see him pissing away any credibility he had with his half-cocked rantings and the weirdoes he chooses/chose to work with. Makes you almost long for the pre-Internet days when "rock stars" were more untouchable, and had handlers, who kept their more doofus qualities under wraps.

I mean, I shouldn't bitch, because people like him make MY job easier... but at the same time, you almost wish someone would put a blanket over his shoulders, gently take the keyboard away, and go get the poor guy some soup or something. Maybe he just needs a hug.

And maybe I really like what Spitz added to the mix. It's possible, you know? I can say the guitars don't sound as good to me w/o him, and the leads on the albums w/o him definitely sounds more "tacked on" than anything Spitz ever did. Maybe he didn't hold his own when it came to writing, but he did add to the old Anthrax sound. His present day crazy ramblings don't take this fact away.
