There are many of us who are actively supporting or participating in the black metal underground. This topic was inspired by a similar one that I just received (hail and thanks). I decided to slightly modify it so that it is appropriate on U-M, however I am simply reposting this as I originally received it when it comes to most of the content. It is however a very interesting list of cool myspace bands that you should definately listen to or add to your friends if the description fits your gusto.

If you know any of the bands, comment on them by all means!

Funeral Dust - http://www.myspace.com/funeraldust ->
COMMENTS: "very interesting and sick, melodic and raw black metal band that will remind of the nordic movement. Recommended from heart and infernal hails to Wulv." -W.S.

Scatach - http://www.myspace.com/scatach ->
COMMENTS: "interesting doomy black metal band, that is slightly let down by its lacking production; definately worth a listen." -W.S.

Dead Mountain - http://www.myspace.com/deadmountain ->
COMMENTS: "Typical, but far from bad, black metal with a certain doomy and rock n roll feel to it. Might remind a bit of Immortal in some times. The drumming is strange but not necesserily bad. Check them out." -W.S.

Pyramid of Man - http://www.myspace.com/pyramidofman ->
COMMENTS: "This is not my piece of cake, but Pyramid Of Man blend death and grind elements in an interesting way with some black metal influences. A person more into this kind of music will probably make a better comment." -W.S.

Satus - http://www.myspace.com/Satus ->
COMMENTS: "amazing black metal with a good doom and rock n roll vibe to it. Possibly one of the best bands on myspace. Words can't do Satus justice. Listen to them NOW! Highly recommended" -W.S.

The Temple of Azoth - http://www.myspace.com/thetempleofazoth ->
COMMENTS: "this is black noise that many blacksters enjoy. It is not personally my piece of cake, so I will not make a proper comment on it. People who are interested in noise meeting black metal should try it out and post a more accurate comment" -W.S.

Svartnar - http://www.myspace.com/svartnar ->
COMMENTS: "simply amazing black metal, that produces lots of powerful feelings. Misanthropic, hateful and black as it should be. Again, HIGHLY recommended; and my congratulations to Alexander for this hellish creation!" -W.S.

Nidverk - http://www.myspace.com/nidverk ->
COMMENTS: "what originally will appear to be typical black metal will soon prove to be one of the most interesting underground acts. Lots of breakdowns that suprisingly manage to stay on topic, unexpected brutal sound and technicality make this one of the most interested Swedist Death/Black metal bands I have heard recently." -W.S.

Ash - http://www.myspace.com/ash ->
COMMENTS: "Ash hail from USA and play ****ing amazing black metal. That's all there is to say. If you haven't listened to them yet, you are losing out." -W.S.

Frozen Glare -http://www.myspace.com/frozenglare ->
COMMENTS: "I don't know how credible my opinion can be when describing my own band, but I will give it a shot. Frozen Glare play a very unique mixture of doom (earlier on) and black metal, with lots of aggressive and misanthropic moments. Blending the greek black metal scene and its romanticism with the nordic sound and grim feeling, I believe that we are doing something interesting. By all means, I await for your comments!" -W.S.

Gorath -http://www.myspace.com/gorathblackmetal ->
COMMENTS: "Ranging from pure nordic raw black metal, to very atmospheric dark and brutal black metal, Gorath are from Belgium and continue the legacy of good black metal hailing from the southern Europe. Don't miss out on them, unless you want to miss out on an excellent band. Amazing." -W.S.

Ghosts Of The Old Nightmare
- http://www.myspace.com/ghostsoftheoldnightmare ->
COMMENTS: "I am usually not very interested in really melodic black metal bands, but GOTON have seriously something special going on for them. Mixing excellent ambience found in such acts such as Elend or Northaunt, with some epic and doomy metal parts, they manage to create an excellent atmosphere to their black metal sound that you are sure to dig. Will remind a bit of Opeth, Burzum and For Funerals To Come era Katatonia meeting together. Recommended for anyone into ambient atmospheric doom black metal with power metal elements." -W.S.

Tomb Of... - http://www.myspace.com/tombof ->
COMMENTS: "Possibly the least black metal related band on this list, purely submitted because of the first demo having lots of Nortt and black metal influences. Tomb Of... is another one of my bands, playing funeral doom and later on dark ambient. Try listening to Funeral Pyre and see if you can dig this sort of stuff!" -W.S.

Animi Vultus - http://www.myspace.com/animivultus ->
COMMENTS: "One of my personal favourite bands. Animi Vultus are purely a doom black metal that can transcend the barriers raised by human feelings and penetrate right into the blackest of hearts. Similar to early Burzum, or even better, the amazing Beatrik, Animi Vultus are going to take you away into the saddest of journeys. Respect and hails to Saliatahn!" -W.S.

Erus - http://www.myspace.com/erus ->
COMMENTS: "Absolute doom and chaos, veiled in lots of strange noise and ambience (induced by the production). Strangely this feels scary and is absolutely recommended for those cold winter nights." -W.S.

Delenda Arcana - http://www.myspace.com/delendaarcana ->
COMMENTS: "Interesting mixture of melodic and majestic black metal that will remind a bit of Borknaagar, so if your liked Empiricism, check them out definately." -W.S.

Niroth - http://www.myspace.com/niroth ->
COMMENTS: "Black metal as it should always have been, strange from the abyss of.... United Kingdom. Niroth are typical when it comes to playing black metal but always manage to throw in a few special moments. Very good stuff." -W.S.

Velonnic Sin
- http://www.myspace.com/velonnicsin ->
COMMENTS: "Velonnic Sin will definately remind of Clandestine Blaze, which means that they should be immediately placed in your priority of bands to check. Amazing black metal that once again proves that the USA have nothing to fear or can be even better than their european counterparts!" -W.S.

Nocturnal Supremacy - http://www.myspace.com/nocturnalsupremacy666 ->
COMMENTS: "Ambience can go a lot of way within black metal. Nocturnal Supremacy however are one of the few bands who can take it so far as to integrate it within their amazingly dark, epic and pestilent sound. Doomy and experimental black metal that I truly recommend." -W.S.

Drifason - http://www.myspace.com/drifason ->
COMMENTS: "Properly well played black metal that fuses elements from the 2nd wave as well as a very personal and doomy sound (mostly brought forward by the slow changes and the atmosphere). Drifason will generally remind of Carpathian Forest, which is by no means a bad thing at all!" -W.S.

Veil - http://www.myspace.com/veil88 ->
COMMENTS: "Veil is the absolute proof that NSBM can be absolutely captivating musically, aesthetically and in terms of musicianship. Doomy black metal that imposes its atmosphere through hellish guitars and production and tormented vocals that will leave you captivated. One of the best bands on this list, and one that you should check right away. For fans of Burzum, Silencer and Beatrik." -W.S.
