Who was there last night? I was kinda disappointed at the attendance. I think there were maybe 200 tops. Still, it was a kickass show. Correct me if I'm wrong, but...they did not play anything from V right? I don't remember hearing Evolution at all. But they played everything else that's been pointed out in other threads.

The band kicked ass. The sound was ok. The mix of the drums were pretty good...maybe too much snare. The vocals sounded great and Russ is really unbelievable to be able to pull off everything so perfect live. Dammit, he was standing right next to me while Echoes of Eternity was playing and I was like so dumbfounded that I didn't do anything. Also, I didn't realize he was such a big dude! I didn't think he was bigger than me, but I'm definitely wrong. Still cool, he was hanging out in the bar area.

Rhythm guitar sounded ok for the most part, but should have been louder. Lead was almost too much treble, to the point where the notes simply disappeared into thin air. Keys were at an appropriate volume for the leads, but probably too soft otherwise. Lepond's bass tone was very good, and he seemed to cut through the mix pretty well.

It was a great show and a blast to see them at a venue like Station 4. It's a very personable place where you can get very close and see pretty much everything. Well, as long as you're not blinded by the spotlights.

I got a pic with the singer from Echoes, but the guy who took it was shaking so it looks like shit.

PISSSSSS.

Thank you SX for the great show.

glad you dug it....I'm SOOO pissed i couldn't make it. I go to school in St. Paul (McNally Smith) and my apartment is about 4 blocks from station 4. Unfortunately I'm home for the summer and didn't have the time or funds to make it back.

*prays for 2nd US leg*

Yeah, I read something about them most likely coming on a second US leg. You should be in luck.

I was right in front, like three feet from Russell. He shook my hand during Serpent's Kiss I believe, and also I got one of Romeo's picks. :D

Sound was pretty good, but the keys were drowned out almost all the time until The Odyssey. At least where I was standing. Also would've liked to hear more of Lepond... I was standing in the same spot for Echoes of Eternity, and their bassist totally kicked my ass.

I was close to getting one of Rullo's sticks, but I just don't have the skillz anymore. I have to say though, it was a good mix of metal fans, both young and not so young; from the kid escorted by his mom to the long bearded old biker dude.

I shouldn't have drank so many beers though; it made me sweat even worse...damn, it was hot in there.

I thought symphony X sounded great, but I'm not really picky about the mix. It was pretty much the best concert I've been to ever and it only cost 15 dollars. I was pretty much in awe the entire time symphony X was playing. My only thing is that I really wanted to see Pinnella's fingers doing their thing but I dunno how that would be accomplished anyway so it's not really a big complaint.

However, I really didn't like Sanctity or Echoes of Ethernity so it was kind of torture to sit through their sets but it was worth it to see Symphony X. The local band 7th Calling or something was pretty good they sounded a lot like Testament to me and it was hilarious when his amp went to clean mode and he finished his solo and song that way.

Was it as hot as shit in there or what? By the time it was over I was drenched but it was all in good fun :kickass:.

I think a lot of people went to the sounds of the underground and that's why the turn out wasn't good. I would rather see Symphony X because I like them a considerable amount more then the best bands they had at SOTU.

Yeah, I was there. I have to say, the concert was pretty kick ass. Being my first concert and all, I was really happy with how it turned out. My only complaint was the opening acts, I didn't like them at all really.

By the way, what the heck is the sounds of the underground, I never heard of it before, and if it took away ticket sales for a show to SX, they're automatically bastards:P

Sounds of the Underground = Sit through a billion shitty bands for Amon Amarth. And a couple other decent ones, but yeah.

This was an amazing show. Probably the best show I've ever seen not including Blind Guardian and Bal-Sagoth who played the same venue last year. I really hope they come back because I'm dying to see them again already.
