I may have to use your bottle of Purell while I'm there.

Seriously - I wash my hands all the time. Often times people don't wash their hands when they're out in public and when they eat or put their hands near their mouth or nose - all those icky things get in your body. So wash your hands!

I wash my hands every chance I get as well as carry hand sanitizer in my purse/car. And if I do get an itch on or around my face when I'm out, I always use the back of my hand/wrist area to rub it.

I've also been doing the airborn a few times a day, as well as extra Vit C for about four days now.

I've often wondered over the past year or so if I'm turning into a germaphobe.

I'm bringing Airborne with me to this ProgPower. After I got the ProgPower Plague last year, I know it's something I'd like to avoid this year and in the future. :D

I don't bother with hand sanitizer because it kills off the bacteria that you need, as well as the stuff that could make you sick.

People who wash their hands all the time tend to get sick more often. Of course there are times when its best to wash them, but if your body is not used to fighting off germs, it is more likely to be affected by germs. The best hints to stay healthy at progpower is to ensure that you continue to eat well and get enough sleep, and that you don't drink excessively. You will be around people who might have illnesses, so of course if you don't take care of yourself you might get sick.

p.s. Airborn had a class actual law suit against it recently. There's no proof that it helps in any way.

On an obsessive basis, true, but if it's a weekend where you're constantly in contact with people and touching them and touching things hundreds of other people have touched (doorknobs, bars, CDs...) and then you touch your eyes, your nose, your mouth ... it is without question a good idea to wash your hands with soap and hot water a few times throughout the day.

I caught the Progpower Plague a couple times, but the last time I had it, I blamed Jon Oliva for lighting up on stage, because then everyone in the *audience* started lighting up too. Blech!

Curufin and I are still recovering from a cold we got day 1. Thankfully it wasn't so bad as to ruin the trip or anything :).

Grrrr. I ate healthy, took my vitamins, stayed hydrated, used my Purell, and *tried* to get a reasonable amount of sleep, but I am feeling a touch of a sore throat today.

I guess all I can hope for now is that it will be milder and not last as long as past years when I've had the PP Plague...

I guess I was Plague-ridden this year pretty much from Thursday on out, but that might have been due to my defenses being down from the 5-day endurance marathon called Dragon*Con the weekend before. Called in sick to work Monday but will probably go in on Tuesday, as most of the worst seems to have passed.

I consider myself slightly lucky: a fellow director for Dragon*Con was diagnosed with a 'mild' case of the H1N1 virus last Wednesday after the convention. :zombie:

Started getting a cold last night and my throat hurts this morning :(

You too? Sounds like what I had. Yesterday I was tired with a sore throat, and today I have the blahs and a runny nose. I think I came down with either a cold or bad case of allergies. Either way I'll probably go to sleep really early tonight.
