Steel Panther

It's so explicit that a dude drumming inside a bathroom stall is one of the tamest bits. I gotta hand it to these guys - they can write a catchy tune. Just don't let your coworkers catch you singing it out loud!

I have laughed till my sides hurt listening to this disc. My fave cut is "Gang Bang at the Old Folks Home."

I have to be careful listening to this album at work. Even though I have headphones, I find myself wanting to sing along which is NSFW!:lol::lol:

I got about halfway through this release before the hotel staff knocked on my door and asked me to turn it down - they'd received a number of complaints..... bastards....

I turned it down and then played King Diamond's brilliant Them.

It was at a lower volume, but no wall can stop that hellish falsetto from burning into their brains...

Novelty act, IMO......Chuckled at the their debut release, and then it got old fast....and I LIKE humor in music! They are definitely talented, and God bless em' for making a buck, but it just ain't my thang......

I did laugh at this vid, in a fugged up kind of way.....

Steel Panther have just announced a series of "Threesomes". The glam rockers will be playing two three-night residencies, one in their hometown of Los Angeles and the other in nearby Las Vegas, at the cities' respective House Of Blues venues.

These guys are musically talented, but I just don't care for it. I have a weird sense of humor, yes, but I just don't find them very funny. I do admit the Tiger Woods song was funny from their second LP.

I left after two songs when I saw them open for Judas Priest. I just don't think it was the right kinda show for them. I would have rather seen a -real- band open for Priest, if that makes sense.

Have to disagree with you on this one Palabra. It takes more talent to write this of lyrics/songs. Just the same as a concept album.

I love Priest. And I like Panther. I think they made a good combo. Listen the guitars when Panther plays. I think St. Joe is bringing you down LOL. I can say that being from the area LOL.

I enjoy Steel Panther, but I do agree that the schtick can get old fast. Whether I love them or get bored with them often depends on the mood I'm in that day. I will say that neither of the follow-up albums matched the consistency of Feel the Steel, which was wonderfully vulgar, without being too over the top.

I also saw them open for Judas Priest, and they managed to get a full hour, which is not that common for opening acts, especially ones that are not yet established. Their schtick really worked well in an arena environment (as opposed to a club or theater). They were hilarious and nicely fit in. They are certainly not the type of act to bring the kids to, and thus I'm sure quite a few families ended up in the lobby until Steel Panther had left the stage. But as I said, I enjoyed them. The only major downside was that they did about 10 minutes worth of stage patter after their second song. That's a bold move, but one that would have been appreciated better for a headlining gig, rather than as an opening act.

Would you recommend catching their show at a small club? I like their debut a lot, but found the rest to be rather hit and miss.

I would love to see them again.

I spent New Years 2010 at a Steel Panther show in Hollywood as my girlfriend went home (to the Dominican Republic) for the holidays and it was absolutely fucking phenomenal. I, for one, love stage banter and really don't mind the 10 minutes of chatting in between songs. I can hear the songs on an album, I go to shows for - well - a show. I seriously recommend everyone go see them if they have the chance.
