putney and machine and good o'l andy marsh told me to go motu 2408mkIII

i am only doing mixes with this rig with some outboard gear

maybe a little overdub tracking

but the choices i've looked at are
2408MKIII
motuhd192
rmefireface

if you guys have any more recomendations please let me know!
also selling the mackie1200F+800R for 900

Allen and Heath zed-R16.
16 channels of good AD and DA, 16 Analog inserts for your outboard, 16 great analog EQs etc, etc
Best purchase I have ever made for the studio.

I really really like the zed, but i dont wana do a board space is of the issue so i want to get just a 1ru interface like the MOTU or what not.

Is that really going to be a noticeable step up? I thought the Mackie converters weren't bad at all from what I gathered. From what I've read, most guys that upgraded recommended waiting to go Lynx/Millennia/LarvyGold ect or just getting nice pres and mics. Idk I've always wanted to go RME card and Lynx, personally.

yeah i've always thought about that but will putney talked me out of it he said his 2408 beat out the apoggee.

Or what about a clock upgrade? Not to talk you out of getting the Motu by any means. I'm just in the market for getting the most out of my Firestudio until I can make that jump. Maybe take a look into that BLA MicroClock? They have that 30 trial period. I'm probably going to check it out when taxes come in. Feel like that might be a little easier on the wallet/mind than dropping cash on the Motu and trying to get rid of the Mackies.

Interesting that the 2408 mk3 converters only support up to 96khz sample rates despite how good I'm sure they sound (not about to dispute the recommendations of the M+P duo obv :D), another striking illustration that specs aren't everything!
