Hey guys,

I was browsing around Gearslutz and apparently a lot of people is raving about this Sterling Audio ST77 mic. Sterling audio used to be Groove Tubes and changed names after it was brought by Musicians Friend (or Guitar Center or anything hehee) . Anyway...a lot of people seem to be liking it on gearslutz and as for a couple weeks ago, it was costing around $500, and now MF wants to get rid of it, so they're selling it for $200. Anyone ever tried such a mic ? I really want to have a different flavor microphone (already have a SM7 and a At4047) and by the description, it fits my need. But I am also not spending money if it is crap.

I have the ST-79 (multi-pattern version with -10dB pad and high pass), and it's a great mic. I had the ST77 before, and though they sounded very similar, I felt like the ST79 was a bit more detailed at the same settings. For $200, they're still a great mic, though. Beware, the mic is GIANT! :p
