Hey Folks,

Just went to Guitar Center for labor day specials. I am planning on recording bands and I was looking for my first vocal mic for my home-based studio. I wanted to go for a condenser vs a dynamic (like SM7b) seeing as I want to record clean vocals as well.

Long story short is, I put a down payment on this Mic for layaway ($199 is total). Figured I would research it, take it if it got favorable reviews or return it for cash back.

Anyone have experiences with this mic? Or should I return it for maybe an AT4040 regardless of the savings I got? Mainly used for Death(core) Metal & Metal/Rock vocals, will be opening it up for pop & hip-hop as well.

Here's a link to the mic...

Your thoughts and experiences would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Even though it's an unpopular mic, maybe you guys have 2 cents to throw in regardless if you have used it or not?

Sterling = MXL = equally cheap mics.
I have two of theirs, one is okay as a room mics to comp the hell out of, the other is okay as an aux OH mic.
