And you're absolutely right, that sounds great... Haven't really listened anything to pre-Visions stuff. Some bands really did peak after an album or two... Fates Warnings as well, with Awaken the Guardian.

Awaken the Guardian is one of my favorite albums of all time. The first time I heard Fata Morgana I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. The vocals on that track are imo the best i have ever heard.

How is Polaris Cheesy? Have you heard the Solo on winter skies? Incredible...That clip of old stratovarius isn't anything special I much prefer Visionz, Destiny, Infinite and Polaris.

How the hell is it not cheesy? It's a typical Stratovarius power metal album, it's the very essence of cheesy "Wiiiiiiinter skies, leave me aloone, when I lose my Wwwaaaayyaaayuyyy" COME ON.

I mean I'm not to into lyrics with My Power Metal...The Feeling of this album is what it's all about and Heaviness...along with Kotipelto's awesome vocal melodys.

Btw I also Don't like Siege Perelious much....I think Kamelot got good with The Fourth Legacy, Karma etc.etc.etc.

This new album reminded me of Episode a little, maybe because of the mid tempo songs, so I think you should check it out. To me Episode is as good as Visions, but people don't seem to agree with me that much.

That song is really growing on me! After repeated listens, I love Polaris, great release. The only things I don't much care for are the two ballady songs (apart from Winter Skies), but overall it's just damn good stuff.

To me Episode is as good as Visions, but people don't seem to agree with me that much.

I do, they're the best two Strato albums.
I got interested in the band when Jens joined and wasn't disappointed with their first effort together. Visions wasn't as heavy but great album anyway. They went downhill from Destiny on. Polaris is okay but nothing special, I hate Timo's [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BECXT8Mxdo&feature=related]"rally-english"[/ame] nowadays.

The whole live thing was broadcasted live by the Finnish broadcasting company. Pretty cool.

I went to a Stratovarius concert at the Opera House in Toronto. I couldn't stand the tone of the vocals. Most of the concert I was listening to it outside (with the smokers and I don't even smoke!). I'd never go to Strat concert again.

After that I went to a Sonata Arctica concert, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

anyway i only rly like a couple of songs from stratovarius mainly because the guitars vocals and songwriting sound a bit amateurish to my ears

That`s the way to listen to music. It`s all about the guitarist`s picking technique.
