Stuff's worst "metal" album covers

Hilarious!!

Those Pantera covers are wretched, but...my godlessness, Fire Down Under is laughable....embarrassing....unbelievably cheesy, all rolled up into one huge mistake!

I'd also add the terrible Maiden cover "X Factor" (although every Maiden cover since Somewhere In Time has sucked in it's own way).

I like Riot's cover must be the only person, has always been bashed in very forum/site I look. The seal headed human mascot was always a fave of mine. Also like the Exciter cover although it lacks gore :D As for the Malmsteen cover I like everything except him on it

As for Manowar is well deserved and I have to add this one, looks like posters for a gay bar or a strip club for women but definitively un-metal to me

I stumbled on this article last night. Pretty funny stuff. As cheesy as Trilogy is, I've always loved the cover...and the album.

Fire Down Under isn't any worse than these 2!

The Manowar cover never bothered me, but I like that album. Though, I do recognize the cheeze factor to be sure. The Riot, well, I've always thought that was odd. Trilogy bites (thought so back in the 80s too - the cover that is). And I always thought Bonded by Blood was ridiculous....just poorly drawn really, not the concept altogether. Violence and Force is silly, but not terrible.

As for greats......they left off a bunch I like. Two that come to mind immediately are Melissa and To Mega Therion. I'd include Monotheist now too. A very great and disturbing cover. I'd also include, rather high on the list, Born Again. It still disturbs me, but is a great, great cover. And, pretty much all the Motorhead covers are great.....but Overkill was a fine choice. I'd probably have chosen Another Perfect Day or Orgasmatron. Also, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is truly great. A perfect metal album cover. Oh, and for me personally, I'd have chosen Number of the Beast over Killers. Soundmaster, you're right about the quality of Maiden's covers dropping off. This phenomenon reached its height with DOD. They are kind of asleep at the wheel on presentation these days, music aside.

Funny stuff! I actually did a speech on how to buy an album based solely on the cover back in school. I got an A+ on that one. The quintessential pick, based on cover alone? Wendy O. Williams' first solo:

What can I say? I was young.

How dare they put Yngwie's "Trilogy" cover on there with covers like Poison and Manowar !!! Wingnut, though sort of old and tired and rehasing now was one of the last true guitar heroes that truly made people's mouth drop. He also released one super cool album cover with "Trilogy." It is in my top 5 album covers.

This is actually an okay album in my book, and I had a huge crush on her when it came out. I was such a metal head as a kid....and she seemed pretty metal to me is all. But really, like I said, that record is actually pretty good. I was 13 when it came out.

  1. It was my first Yngwie Malmsteen album
  2. It's my favorite Yngwie album (and his best IMO)
  3. It was still on vinyl (big album cover)
  4. It was an awsome dragon
  5. It was silly the guy holding the guitar and still is
  6. Go pick your shotgun :p

I gotta go with Marching Out, the only Yngwie album I really liked (well, the first one was good too). I am a Viking, Disciples of Hell.....classic songs. Yngwie had promise in the beginning!

I think the first three (hence the trilogy) were his best ever. Some magic was found later in "Facing The Animal" and "Alchemy" but the beginning was brilliant and like Bryant said it turned a lot of people into the guitar-hero and shredding guitar metal (what later was known as "neo-classical" metal :loco: ).

'Disciples Of Hell' kicks even Satan ass :D :headbang:

I also mostly like "Marching Out" from Malmsteen, remains a great album !!!
As for WOW; I saw her live with the Plasmatics. A show in a local not-so-big club but they still decided to blow up that car :) The explosion was WAY to big and the club had to be evacuated immediatly becouse of the smoke...But it was fun indeed !!
