Stupidity

I use to think that, but more and more I'm beginning to believe that the ignorance required to maintain such antiquated and, frankly, harmful beliefs represents a major flaw in a person's character.

I agree with this completely. Look at this recent "birther" movement as an example:

They insist that Obama was born in Kenya, and even though his birth certificate is posted online, even though the Republican governor of Hawaii has confirmed that he is in fact a US citizen, these people aren't convinced. The only "proof" they will accept is proof that Obama was born outside the country, because they've already made up their minds that that's the truth.

Religion has the same kind of mentality: you decide what the truth is and then look for any pathetic shred of psuedo-science you can to back you up, ignoring the actual scientific facts that contradict your beliefs. It supports blind faith - the opposite of logic, which is really what this world needs more of.

Anyway sorry to distract from titties, this kind of thing just really grinds my gears.
