Legendary death metallers SUFFOCATION have posted the following message on their official web site:

"We are happy to announce the completion of our new self titled-album, 'Suffocation'. We are anxious for it to hit the streets and are expecting an early September release date. We are confident with the outcome and look forward to the upcoming tours that will be scheduled to support it.

"The album will be out a few weeks prior to the start of the FEAR FACTORY, HYPOCRISY, DECAPITATED tour which will give you fans just enough time to familiarize yourselves to the pain we are anxious to bring to your city and town.

"Last but not least, SUFFOCATION bassist Derek Boyer is recovering from four broken bones. Derek's leg was broken 06/06/06. The good news is, Derek will be back on two feet in time for the tours this summer."

SUFFOCATION's latest CD, "Souls to Deny", was released in April 2004 through Relapse. The band's first full album of new material since 1995's "Pierced From Within" was recorded at Full Force with engineer Joe Cincotta and was described by drummer Mike Smith as "the cleanest, heaviest SUFFOCATION album to date."

I bought a Human Waste shirt last week...the next best thing I can do to re-buying the album.

I actually liked Sous to Deny quite a bit. Problem with Suffo's previous releases is their songs seem to sound too similar to each other, and Souls tried to change that by giving them some identity. Each song on that album was easily recognisable within a few listens. If they can maintain that ethic while upping the intensity on the new one it will be a great listen.

What?!? I've never seen problems with any suffo's release prior to Souls to Deny (well except for the production on Breeding the Spawn). Souls to deny was not as good as their previous release at all. I can't see how you think these songs were easier to recognise then their previous material.

I don't know if Cerrito being gone affected the songs that much but it sure didn't catch my attention that much compared to any of the previous releases (EP included).

No, i'm not saying it was more interesting, but the songs definitely had more hooks and repetitive chorusy bits, the title track for example had a lot of repetition as i remember.
