Suggestion on drum micing.

We're planning on buying some mics to record drums.

This is what I'm thinking so far
Snare: SM57 (we're getting it for the guitars anyway so)
JJlabs Drumpack 7 mics:
1 kick
2 oh
4 tom (one is for snare, but they're all the same so we're using it for another tom instead)

I guess my question is, do we need to get one mic for the hihat or can we "survive" without micing it directly? If we're micing the hihat we need to drop one tom 'cause we can only record 8 tracks at once for now.

HH always bleed into SD mic and OH, you can survive without a HH microphone.

Otherwise just get a mic for the hihat but record it on the same track as the OH's, just make sure you like the sound before you do But yeah, you can survive without a HH mic
