After some investigating, I found out that most Japs usually only drive their cars for 30-40 thousand miles not only due to the heavy smog restrictions in the country, but also in part that a car is deemed useless if it has even the slightest of body damage. Parking spots also average around $700 a month.

the reason I asked is because someone I know opened a used car export business in Northern Japan and exports all these pretty much new cars acquired for next to nothing to Russia.
