id say appoximately right now im about missing the obituary set =(

started playing at 11:00 for about 35-40 min
the set was pretty good, played it well, first time in 7 years, they practiced for 2 days

as far as the fesitival it was so pathetic that I'm not even going to say anything anymore about it.

Really? Even Hate Eternal and Vital Remains sucked? Wow, I find it quite heartbreaking as those bands are some of my favorites.

no shit man! What a disaster....we flew in from California to play, got bounced down to 4:00, played in front of maybe 80 people tops. What a nightmare. Last years Mass Hardcore/Metal fest was how a fest SHOULD be run. We played to 1300 people, no bands were late, sound was killer, and the crew KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING.
We were anticipating an argument with Koshick about getting paid, but he just sighed, looked sad, and paid.

Apparently the rumor is that he lost 80k on this fest.

On top of that he was letting local bands that paid to play go on after bigger bands that were getting paid to come in (JAg Panzer had to go on before some horrible local bands, Demoncy had to play at 1:30 PM before some nu-metal kids).

A disaster. I can post a pic of how empty the place was later, if anyone wants.

Obituary was killer and Testament was great (even though they only had a 30 minute set, if that, and the sound was abyssmal)

I mean what was he (the fat bastard) expecting. No promotion whatsoever (I mean ZERO, not even a stinking flyer at some local record store, metalfest.com isn't exactly msn.com), booked it in the venue that was about 10 times bigger then it needed to be plus the line up itself wasn't too great...and whoever was in charge of the technical aspect of it need not do it again. The one and ONLY reason, well two co-existing reasons why I ended up there was cause I live about 20 minutes away from the venue and Obituary was there. I seriously dobut that there will be a repeat of this 1st and last Anual Sun n Steel Disaster. You would figure the guy had learned from his past but he obviously hasn't nor ever will. Go figure. I'm almost certain I could organize much better festival myself. I pretty much had given up on the American Metal Fests as they blow chunks compared to, well compared to non US based festivals (Europe, Australia, Mexico, South America). Even Milwaukee metal fest (the biggest of them all in states I guess) is really nothing special. Sad

BTW I enjoyed Noctuary's set ;) I believe I saw you in Milwaukee 2001 as well.

plz tell me theres a point where that place was atleast a quarter full!!!!!!!!
hell... even 1/8... just something. there had to be more ppl then that at some point! thats just ridiculous! i mean... shit.. if thats all there was i coulda held the show at my fuckin garage!. hell. not even the garage, i can fit it on my little 6ft patio where the garbage cans are at! i mean.... holy shit!!! ive seen local dm bands with bigger turnouts then that!

What a fucking joke, I am so glad I didn't go and kept my money. I will gladly spend 4x more at Wacken than at some stupid ass american metalfest where the so called scene is like a ghost's shadow. Then people whine and bitch about no fest, no bands,... and when you get some kind of a half ass show you have 20 hillbillies showing up. ahahah
But again total lack of promotion, way too many bands booked,... then people ask me why I never go to shows or local bands, well here is yr answer. I am better off buying all my underground stuff and playing it with friends who care around a bonfire. See you 20000 wacken troopers in August .............
