On a scale of 1-3 how good would you consider the Super 8 Motel to be? Being that myself and some friends are first timers here at ProgPower, we would like to know the quality of the service at this motel.

We are looking forward to making it to Where the Playa'z Play, Georgia this Fall!

Thanks! :D

Not very good :loco:

But I still stay there every year! And probably will be there again this year!

It's not that bad, but there is nothing remotely luxurious about it.. The rooms are nice enough, though... And they are cheap and pretty close to the venue..

I stayed there last year. Decided to upgrade this year. It's good if you're on a budget and just looking for a place to crash at night. Pretty much there's a bed, bathroom, tv, and a complimentary breakfast (believe it was donuts and coffee - didn't use it till Sunday when I had to get up for my plane). It's a little out of the way, and not exactly a place you want to be walking back to at 2 in the morning if you're alone. Still, only about a 10 minute walk at most. They also had vending machines nearby the stairs and a washer/dryer somewhere on the premises.
I was hoping there would at least be a coffee pot in the room but no luck there. Had brought some ramen for a late night snack if I was hungry when I got back.

If your willing to spend alittle more the Residence Inn has great rooms for around $99 but you better hurry i think they may all be gone.

I disagree.. I didn't feel scared at all walking back to the hotel at night.. I didn;t even see anything remotely suspicious! And I've stayed there since prog power 3 every year...

It's also only a couple block walk to a 24 Kroger and some restaurants from the Super 8-- I stayed there when in town for Amorphis. Surely nothing special, a teeny bit skanky, but I know they replaced all their beds in the last year....It just shows it's age a bit (as does the Granada, though).

It's fine if you don't care about extra amenities. As far as the walk, there are always a few people heading to that hotel, just follow along with them if you don't feel safe. Although I agree, I've never seen anything suspicious and it's not like you're going to be walking down any dark alleys or anything. The route is such that no one is going to be able to sneak up on you.

I'm mostly referring to the immediate area around the hotel. First few blocks are fine until the very last part My friend and I had a car honk at us (both of us being female). At 2 am, horny guys in a car are not something you want to deal with.

...But you just dealt with being surrounded by 800 horny guys at ProgPower...

795 of whose asses my 2-year old daughter could kick. Not exactly a threatening crowd. Oh no! Another pencil-necked geek in a black t-shirt! Run for your virginity!

See you this year :)

Pretty sure they were all gone a week ago. I know they are all gone now.

Im sorry, that's kind of a stupid excuse (reason). I mean, come on, didn't guys ever honk at you before?

Seriously, if that made you think it's "not a good place to be walking by late at night", you shouldn't go out of the house, anywhere, period.

Don't guys honk at girls just for the sake of it, anyway?

It's a Bathory shirt... yeah, you're right, though... I am kind of a pussy.

Great Wings/Avs game yesterday, man... hope you were able to see it, it was on NBC!

Hey AngraFan,
My buddy and I stayed there last year and will return there
again this year.(We stayed at the Granada the year before)you can't beat
it for the price our room had microwave and mini frig...
If you need a bodyguard this year we would be happy to escort you and
your friend.........

Stayed there last year and it was all good. But, as already mentioned, it's no frills, no parties....just a place to crash and recover from your hangover. Cost was major factor for me as I was on my own. If you're with friends, you might consider somewhere else to split cost.

I think it wasn't Angrafan who needed a bodyguard. Not me either. :tickled:
