1st is just sd2
2nd is just metal machine,
3rd is a mix of both...

i'm in no mean a pro,

i used the kick from metal machine, a mix of snares but mostly sd2 snare, sd2 toms, OH are mostly sd2, rooms and amb are metal machine, hats is mostly sd2 with a bit of metal machine, a bit of verb from metal machine and sd2...

i got metal machine yesterday, so i did not experiment much yet...

ok,

metal machine is fun, but a lot less customisable so far since it's (only?) metal sound,... i'll have to play aroud a bit more with it,

by that i mean that im not sure i can do the progressive part i usualy do with it (goin from jazz to ambiant to death metal...)
ill have to fiddle with velocities to see if i can get some non-metal sound out of it...

for this test, i just pasted the midi to metal machine instead of SD2,
i'll need to make a song with metal machine and set velocities properly for it to see the true potential i guess...

SD2 is harder to work with since it's non-processed drum sound, but i do like the satisfaction of processing my own drum sound and knowing it's more unique. (and it also justify my long hours of reading stuff in here and in ermz guide, and getting all those pluggins :)

I have to say tho that MM is much easier to dial in... i have to use tons of pluggins on SD2 (waves, steven slate, voxengo, decapitator, etc... etc.. etc...)

in the end this is a quest for sound, so i'll have to see if i get closer with MM or SD2...

i guess i could use MM for the heavy part and SD2 for the soft part...

thanx!

Nico

i have no idea how to give you the raw files... i could export the waves from my project.. thats like 60 tracks...i dont know how i could send so much large files...

if some wants them, i'd be honor to ear somebody else mix my stuff! seriously.

i've being a guitarist/musican for a long time, but i got seriously interested into mixing about 3-4 years ago, so i tend to say i suck at it and just have fun hearing my stuff.

i do have DI file for reamping bass (being a downpitched guitar...) and rythm guitars since i use an axe-fx 2 for guitars..

if anyone wanna remix this and gives me a way to send all those wave files, i guess i could do it...

(guitars, bass and keys are .wave, drum would be midi or i could bounced them to wave with no fx, but i'd prefer .midi since its much less work to export... :p)

let me know dude!
